WE are already blood nervous for tomorrow, let alone how Ilse DeLange must feel. Especially now that the rumor is going around that she has lost her Jimmy Choo's. Time to ask her how she is doing.
Are your Jimmy Choo's gone?
‘Indeed, completely disappeared. They are being repurchased in the PC Hooftstraat and then brought to Schiphol. Someone from TROS will take them on the plane at 16:30.’
Fortunately, you have other things on your mind. Are you very busy?
‘Now it's not too bad: I'm waiting in the dressing room for the rehearsals for the flag ceremony. No idea what is going to happen, I just have to practice walking with a gigantic flag. Maybe a bit like at the Olympic Games.’
Tomorrow is the big day, what do you think of first when you wake up?
‘Today is the day! And then I feel like it's my birthday.’
Are the nerves already racing through your body?
‘Waylon really never has any problems, I currently have my nerves under control. We have practiced so many times. Still, I am sure I will find it quite exciting tomorrow. But then I just often tell myself: “Hey, this is a very normal performance, it’s nothing.” That helps, haha. If we have to sit on the bench after our performance, I will be completely blood nervous.’
Do you have a bit of rest tonight?
‘Well not really, then we have a rehearsal with a professional jury. There are points to be earned again. Of course, I will wear my most beautiful dress by Claes again. But at half past 12 we will go back to our hotel and then I want to go straight to my bed.’
Tomorrow night you will wear Claes Iversen. Have you already determined your looks for all other moments?
‘My stylist Anouk van Griensven shopped a mountain of clothes in Paris last week. Everything in country and sixties style, with a lot of lace and embroidery. We haven't made outfits for every day, but we just try on something each time.’
And what are you going to do on Sunday? Is there going to be a cork popping somewhere?
‘As it looks now, we will drive home again. With a very satisfied feeling. Everything that is happening now gives me such an amazing feeling: the atmosphere is really good. I feel like we have already won once. And there will definitely be drinking. But how many corks will pop from the bottle depends entirely on the result.’
