Rosanne Jansen is, together with her work partner Valerie van der Meer, the founder of 9straatjesonline.com. The digital shopping paradise where you can buy the nicest goods from the most original neighborhood of Amsterdam. Right, the 9 streets. This week she organized an event at The Dylan where hotel guests receive their digital purchases delivered within an hour.
Busy week, that calls for a drink.
“Definitely. Once the work for the weekend is prepared, Valerie and I will go to The Dylan for a High Wine. A variant on the High Tea where you get four different glasses of wine with matching snacks. I think a High Wine voucher from The Dylan is an ideal gift. Especially for men who often find it difficult to find something original. Or for a newlywed couple, also lovely. We received this from two interns who said goodbye and wanted to thank us for the educational time. Tonight seems like a perfect moment to redeem this voucher. We can also check if there’s still some room shopping going on and if everything is delivered on time.”

What does your collaboration with The Dylan entail?
“Guests can shop online at 9straatjesonline.com. On their TV in the room, we already offer them a menu with Hot & Spicy items (a set from Marlies Dekkers or a bikini) or Souvenir Snacks where you can make it as crazy as you want, from a porcelain canal house where a tealight can fit to a vintage Rolex from Amsterdam Watch Company. The guests of The Dylan receive their order within an hour, beautifully packaged and personally delivered. For people living in the Amsterdam region, the same hour same day offer applies.”
Is anything eaten after that high wine?
“When Valerie and I go out, we always check Bartsboekje.com. A great site with the nicest restaurants, really a recommendation. Tonight I think it will be either Mossel & Gin or Foyer, a pop-up restaurant in Felix Meritis.”
How does Saturday start?
“I’m going to tape a window tonight so hopefully it will be quarter to seven instead of quarter to six. Once everyone is really awake and dressed, we’ll walk to Screaming Beans for coffee and a croissant. They really have the best coffee in Amsterdam. It’s also the only place where I drink coffee. From there, we’ll see what we’re going to do for the rest of the day. Tomorrow I think it will be a visit to the Rollende Keukens at the Westergasfabriek site.”
“When Valerie and I go out, we always check Bartsboekje.com”
And Saturday night, will it be wild?
“It could very well become wild. A good friend of mine is turning forty and is throwing a party at café Brandon, a rundown café that is still a serious hotspot. Next to it is Da Portare Via, a takeout restaurant with the best charcoal oven-baked pizzas. With wine, beer, a terrace, and such a pizza, I fear we’ll be quite content.”
Does Sunday have a different beat than Saturday?
“Definitely. We live with children in the city, so on Sundays we always try to go out. To the beach or to Friesland where my husband’s family has a cottage. Coincidentally, I read that the Amsterdamse Bos is celebrating its eightieth anniversary and there are performances by Circus Elleboog and De Toverknol on Sunday, so I think it would be nice to go there.”
What is being listened to over the weekend?
“I am completely captivated by the movie La Grande Bellezza. The music is amazing. The CD was not available at Bol.com, so I ordered it via amazon.com because I had to have it. From calm, classical choral music to disco, it’s all in there. I always put it on shuffle, otherwise I know exactly what’s coming.‘
And what’s in the glass?
“This weekend mainly beer and wine, but I always like a good gin and tonic with it.”
Do you cook on the weekend or do we eat out?
“If you ask me what I can’t live without, it’s hellofresh.nl, a food delivery service. I have a weekly subscription where a box with fresh ingredients is delivered every Monday along with three perfectly matching recipes. If it says two cloves of garlic, they deliver exactly two, not three. One dish is with meat, the other with fish, the third vegetarian. One time I serve beef strips with pieces of mango, the next day a mash with cod and lamb's lettuce, then bulgur again. At first, my husband didn’t know about my subscription and I impressed him enormously with all my dishes. “What have you cooked now?” he would ask. Until one time I didn’t have time to cook and had to share my secret with him. But I’m still very happy with it.”

Any other tips that make life easier?
“Albert.nl for regular groceries is also a lifeline that creates order in the chaos. Furthermore, I work in my own candy store; clothing, gifts, children’s clothing, I buy all of that at 9straatjesonline.com. Because I live ‘in the district’, it is also delivered to my home within an hour. But really, I love the 9 streets because it’s an area for the adventurous shopper. Here you find new brands, you are surprised with things you don’t know yet, that are unique and special. AnnLiz is a children’s clothing store where a new brand is always discovered. When I buy something there, I know it’s good. Furthermore, smallable.com is a great French children’s clothing site. They have a brilliant sale, so I regularly look and buy, but during the sale, I really make my move.”
Finally, what time does the alarm go off on Monday morning?
“We don’t need to set an alarm because we have our own, resident, alarm clocks. If we wake up at 08:00, we’ve done well. Then I’ve taped the window properly.”
