The 5 tips to prepare your skin for winter
You have people who love summer and you have people, believe it or not, who adore winter. The fact that I just came back from summer vacation says enough, in my opinion. I am a summer lover. Also beauty-wise. My skin is ten times smoother and shinier than normal, my hair automatically has a beachy look, healthy blushes are always present, oh, and those freckles and nice color is also a nice bonus. If I take you to winter, the skin is often dry, drier, and driest, your lips crack, and I get a dull complexion. Recognizable? Well, here they come, the 5 tips to hopefully postpone that winter dip until summer.
Cleaning
Since the weather in winter changes much faster than in summer, due to snow, rain, hail, and cold, it is important to take very good care of your skin cleanse. All those weather influences affect your skin. You should go for a creamy cleanser, as it nourishes the skin instead of drying it out. If you don't cleanse, dead skin cells just pile up, and dirt can't get away. The result is a very dry skin with some pimples. You don't want that. So, cleanse.
Hydrating
The light creams you use in summer can be swapped for a richer cream in winter. If you keep hydrating well, your skin won't have the chance to develop a tired and dull complexion. You will maintain a healthy and fresh look. Just that alone helps you through the winter dip.
Oil
I just mentioned hydrating, and you can boost that a bit with the use of an oil. Now, I can imagine that this isn't so pleasant during the day, as you then have a very greasy skin (by the way, it keeps everything nice and warm). But at night, it can do some extra work. Essential oils penetrate to the deepest skin layer and help to restore everything.
Fake sun
I really understand that you want to keep your summer tan for as long as possible. I want that myself too. A tanning bed is just not the solution. It may give you a so-called vitamin boost, but it's not healthy for the skin. You should take a face mask every week, cleanse well, scrub, and a self-tanner . You will benefit much more from that, and it’s really better for your skin. Oh, and it looks a lot more natural.
Fridge ban
As soon as the sun is gone, you rush to the kitchen. I mean, a baggy sweater hides the fact that I’ve eaten a whole pack of cookies, I always think. In summer, there’s no escaping that. However, you can definitely see that pack of cookies on your skin. So even in winter, it’s best to eat healthy. So sweet potatoes, mangoes, there's enough vitamin A in them that keeps your skin very happy and healthy.
