THE BETTER BRAIDING
Lately, I have been writing more often about Undone Hair. You know, hair where it looks like you haven't done anything to it, but quite a bit of work has actually gone into it. The result is, of course, that it looks amazing. But, if I really have a bad hair day, my solution is quickly a braid. Easy, fast, and it can't go wrong, so it's ideal. Last Friday, Floor Kleyne from Salon B gave a masterclass on braiding. You understand, I was there.
Floor Kleyne is a master in hair. She is a creative hairstylist at Salon B, works backstage at the shows, and knows how to create the most fantastic things in your hair. Floor doesn't teach young talents for nothing, so I already know enough. With three models on stage, she told us, the class, about the trends that currently exist in the world of braiding. The most important thing is to embrace messy hair. It doesn't have to be perfect; it can be a bit messy. And use chance. If you can't make a perfect braid, that's not a problem. Sometimes it's actually much more fun when unexpected things happen.
Now I must admit, Floor made beautiful braids on the models, but I didn't see myself doing it so deftly. At least not on myself. I can braid my friends' hair quite well. Recently, I went to a festival with friends and provided each of them with a nice braid. Except for one friend, because she had just been to the hairdresser, and it was cut a bit too short, making a ponytail the only solution. Alright, small detour. After this braiding workshop, I am convinced. I braided all weekend. After some practice, I can now braid my own hair and create a fishtail, but tonight, during the football match, it's my friends' turn. I can apply all those tricks I've learned. Everyone has to experience it. Jolien's hair is now a bit longer and looks great, but now I also have a new braiding technique that fits well in her hair.
You are probably curious and want to try it yourself, so below are two tutorials for you as well. It takes some practice, but believe me, you'll be festival-proof all summer (because braids are the ideal festival solution) and on-trend. Enjoy.
