In the endless landscape of lingerie, you also have the balconnet, my personal favorite. I often find the push-up just a bit too much (I prefer my bust not to be unnecessarily large), but a completely shapeless thing is also a bit much. Enter the balconnet. It provides a nicely shaped décolleté, can be worn well without straps, and is ideal for a shirt or dress with a low or round neckline.

The baker's check, Brabant's check, Brigitte Bardot check – there are several names for the same cozy print. At least, that's what I think. I do like a check or two. The check can be used from tea towel to expensive couture piece. By the way, in French they call it a bébé-carreaux and in England a gingham. That at least avoids any confusion during international shopping sessions.

You’ve probably tried to explain to someone that the fabric of your new jacket is “a bit like a Chanel jacket.” That is bouclé, a yarn that is made into many small loops, creating a heavy, sturdy fabric. Great and famous because of the Chanel jacket, but nowadays found in many collections.
