The Great New Year's Eve Letter Game
Sure, I shout the loudest that I don't like New Year's Eve, but it's actually a bit more complicated than that. What I find stupid about it is the social pressure that always comes into play. What I like about it is reflecting on the past year, remembering, making new plans for the coming year, all that sentimental stuff. Once I played the note game with friends and that was immediately the first and only fun New Year's Eve I had in the Netherlands, so I'm happy to share this secret with you. Here it comes.
To prepare, take a large bowl, a few sheets of paper, and a pen. Invite your friends over for a grand dinner on the 31st, and then play this game. From those sheets of paper, cut out small notes and write a question on each note. During the game, everyone takes turns picking a note, reading the question aloud, and then has to answer it, after which you put it back in the bowl. To make it even easier for you, I've written down a whole bunch of questions below that you can just pop into the bowl. Happy new year!
- If you could relive one event, which one would it be?
- Which meeting was the most fun?
- Which moment do you prefer not to think back on?
- If you could go back in time, what would you have done differently and how?
- What are you most proud of?
- What are you least proud of?
- Which hangover was the worst?
- What was your favorite outfit of the year?
- What has been your best purchase in 2014?
- With whom did you have the best sex?
- With whom did you have the worst sex?
- Which blunder still makes you blush?
- What did you cry the hardest about?
- Do you regret anything?
- What have you learned the most from?
- What didn't work out that you wished it had?
- What happened that you secretly haven't told anyone (but now you will)?
- If you had to summarize 2014 in one sentence, how would you do that?
- What do you hope 2015 will bring you?
- Who made the biggest impression on you this year?
