THE ROOM OF KARL
Images: Karl Lagerfeld and Le Crillon
Kaiser Karl will design the two most luxurious suites for hôtel de Crillon in Paris. The Crillon, overlooking the majestic Place de la Concorde, is one of the most beautiful and oldest (it has been around since 1758!) hotels in Paris. 1758! Madonna, Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Dalai Lama, and Jackie O have all enjoyed their time there, and the regular clientele can't wait for it to reopen after the renovation.
In Paris, you won't quickly find a hotel more opulent than the Crillon with its Corinthian columns and typical French ceiling ornaments. It survived the French Revolution, Marie-Antoinette took piano lessons there, and just outside the entrance, her husband, King Louis XVI, was guillotined. Marie-Antoinette followed not long after, and rumors suggest that she decided to wear her favorite heels just before her execution. But anyway, we digress.
This is not the first time Karl has ventured into designing hotel interiors. He has previously worked for Hôtel Métropole (Monte-Carlo), Sofitel (Singapore), and the Alma Schlosshotel (Berlin).
The hotel, with Karl's suites, will not open until 2015. So you still have some time to save up.
