Things men can do to impress

This is for all the reading men (yes you) and for all the women with a man or boyfriend who can subtly lay this post under his nose. Or, for single women, to dream away with. oh so many impressions. Here we go.

1. Buy flowers

So cliché, but really it’s still so nice. Preferably not when you go out to dinner (you’ll be sitting at the table with those things the whole time) but when you come to her house or she comes to yours, a small bouquet of flowers and her whole day is good.

2. Cook for her

Nothing sexier than a man who knows what he’s doing in the kitchen – and no, he doesn’t have to be a chef. Buy good ingredients at Marqt or at the real market, ensure enough wine and take everything to her and involve the kitchen for a grand meal. Success guaranteed.

3. Know her interests

A man once made a deep impression on me when he came to cook for me (see previous point) and brought cat treats for my cat Disco. “I have to win over your crazy cat, of course.” I mean, he so totally had me at cat treats.

4. Play the right music

Preferably no angry rap or hard techno but choose something cozy, something loving. For example, Sam Smith, Pete Philly, Jamie Woon or Jill Scott.

5. Win over her friends

So important. If not the most important. Look men, you need to know, if we don’t like the new boyfriend of our BFF, then you’re going to have a really hard time. The road to a woman’s heart has many paths but the highway goes through her friends. If they give the green light to her, then you’re in. So always show interest in the friends, drop by when they are having drinks, ask questions and go out with them.

6. Involve her in your life

This is an extension of the previous point, we love it when we see that we can be part of your life. So introduce your potential girlfriend to your friends, invite her to birthdays weddings whatever and show that you are now a team. You and she, together against the rest of the world.

7. Write little notes

I can also say from my own experience that this scores big points. Little notes on the fridge, on her pillow, on the door, hidden in her shoes, it doesn’t matter. A loving little note or just a drawn heart and boom, the butterflies burst out of her body.

8. Listen and remember

If she ever casually mentions that she thinks Chef’s Special is such a nice band, then you can surprise her by buying tickets for their concert. Or, you have that music playing during a date at your place. So listen well, remember well and then use it enormously for extra points.
