Morning ritual
“In an ideal world, I wake up at 06:30. I wash my hair with Silvershine shampoo from l’Oréal (on the advice of Leco van Zadelhoff to keep my color nice). I am also in love with the shampoos from Christophe Robin, then I immediately feel like I'm in the salon of le Meurice in Paris, divine.
I wash my face with Philips Visapure advanced, then you really feel that your skin is deeply clean. For cleansing, I use the cleanser from Uncover, the line of my skin guru Jetske Ultee. Sometimes, for the nice perfume, I indulge in the Perfectly Clean from Estée. It travels very easily (because it's a tube) and smells so clean. After showering, I apply the toner from Uncover and the exfoliant. That needs to soak in for a bit. A nice moment to open the abs challenge app. Not that I feel like it every morning, but I do see results and it only takes five minutes, so...
Then I apply the moisturizer from Uncover and on top of that goes a sunscreen from Sisley, the best there is. Yes, even in winter.
We haven't even talked about The Hair yet. Usually, I turn on the Carmen set before showering and roll some rollers in my hair. Once I'm dressed and made up, I take them out, et voilà.
Baudelaire already said: “Que c’est un dur métier d’être belle femme” and that's just how it is.”
5 minutes make-up
Making up is done quickly. Usually, there’s a child on my lap who smears lip gloss on her eyes and then proudly shows me the result. Or they go with mascara towards taupe-colored walls...
I start with a good base. That can be Le Beige from Chanel or the tinted moisturizer from Laura Mercier. For a bit more coverage (if I have a party or need to be photographed), I choose the Nude from Dior.
The eyes (read; the bags) get some extra light in the form of the Secret Camouflage from Laura Mercier. I fill in my eyebrows with a powder. Bobbi Brown has a box in two shades, Chanel in three, which always gives you the perfect color that you can enhance a bit more in the evening.
On the cheeks, of course, the Orgasm from Nars, which has become a classic.
I define my eyes with an eyeliner. In New York, I bought one from Marc Jacobs and it was so beautiful. It ran out terribly quickly and I believe it's only available there, so if you go, let me know. Now I use one from Mac, but Chanel, Sisley, and Bobbi Brown are also favorites. It just depends on what’s available. Then a nice mascara from Chanel or the Diorshow, which is really huge.”
Eyebrows or lashes
“In today’s beauty image, the eyebrow is in charge. In New York, I saw a lot of girls who were all natural, so they used foundation and powder but didn’t accentuate anything else except those huge eyebrows. I think it’s beautiful. Luckily, I don’t have to choose, so I do both. And then I keep my mouth shut.”
Favorite perfume
“I have all the perfumes from Chanel and love them all equally, but, as I mentioned, I am promiscuous in the beauty field, I am now intensely in love with Le Gemme from Bvlgari. An exclusive and so refined and mature.”
Favorites role
“Chanel is grand in everything, quality, scent, packaging, everything is a celebration. Furthermore, I love Dior, Estée Lauder, Bobbi Brown, and Sisley of course. And may I bow for Jetske Ultee? Since she has been taking care of my skin, it has never been so beautiful.‘
Best purchase
“Ai. I am in the incredibly lucky circumstance that I rarely have to buy anything because I receive a lot to try. My last purchase was the tinted moisturizer from Laura Mercier and I fantasize about Sel Marin from Heely, the perfume that truly captures summer.”
Never leave home without
“My face, as beauty journalist Karen van Ede calls it. I always carry a toiletry bag with powder, foundation, a gloss, and my Mason Pierson brush.”
Million dollar tip
“Do you have a moment? The Skinflash primer from Dior is the perfect pick-me-up for the skin. If you feel like fatigue is radiating from you, just swipe this brush under your eyes and on your cheeks. Then a bit of foundation over it and set it with powder and everyone asks you if you just got back from vacation. I also love to spray my face with rosewater from the Heritage Store. You can buy it in New York for 9 dollars at the drugstore. The black rose precious face oil from Sisley is also one of the best products I have used this year. So good for dry spots and the skin around the eyes.”
Biggest style icon
“My mother who always looks so fantastic, our Peggy, Harriet Calo. All women who are no longer twenty but are aging so gracefully. If I can achieve that, I will be blessed.”
