Tips for a heavenly wardrobe

Luxury doesn't always have to do with a shiny, rose gold Rolex. Luxury can also be very cheap. Step 1 in having a luxurious home is a tidy home. And if you want a million dollar wardrobe, this will help you immensely to achieve your goal. Even if it's not filled with The Row and Proenza Schouler.

 1. Fold neatly

To create perfectly straight stacks, you need a lot of practice. If you're not that experienced yet, grab a Vogue (or Marie Claire or Harper’s Bazaar) and fold your sweaters around it. This way, each sweater has exactly the same size and you have the most beautiful stacks ever.

2. Take care of your heels

A bit silly to spend €500 on fresh Fendi heels only to throw them in a corner. Invest in shoe trees. I'm very fond of the wooden ones you buy at the cobbler, but at Ikea, you have plastic variants for 1 euro. Also, make sure the tree fits in your slender pump, otherwise, it's of no use.

3. Boot jack

What applies to your shoes also applies to your boots. You can buy boot trees at Blokker, preferably the black ones. If, like me, you don't have a very large shoe cabinet, you can also clip high boots onto a pant hanger. Then they just hang in your closet. To avoid damaging the leather, I would attach a piece of thick fabric or foam rubber between the clip and the boot.

4. Your closet wants something too

Open the door, first enjoy those neat stacks and stretched shoes, and then let the scent of your closet come to you. Diptyque has a delicious Palet Parfumé that is very beautiful and smells wonderful. Hang it on a hanger, on the doorknob of your closet, and your whole room smells like a luxury hotel. If you find that a bit too expensive, you can go to Zara Home. At the checkout, they sell small scent bags that really smell like clean laundry. Place that between your clothes and you'll feel so Martha Stewart-ish about yourself.

5. The finishing touch

You want to be the only one enjoying your wool and cashmere, right? Moths also appreciate quality, and before you know it, your closet is full of chewed-up misery. I bought these at a luxury dry cleaner and I find them beautiful.

Can you show me your end result? I would love that.
