IDEAL gifts
for a wedding
I really want to get married. I also know in what kind of dress. Lace, long sleeves, slender bodice, a bit á la Kate Moss’s but then with long sleeves. Hair undone, not done upwards. Having dinner on long tables in a French landscape at night with little paper lanterns in trees, and a live band at first and a DJ later. My dearest friend Elisabeth already has her speech ready, I think. With the most embarrassing photos and clips, naturally. That’s just part of it. Sorry, I’m getting a bit carried away.
Attending weddings might be even better than your own. You otherwise experience everything in a haze and you start enjoying it all when the entire spectacle is over and done with. Today, I’m helping you with finding a great present for the bridal couple.
It’s easy if they’ve already got a wish list. You can visit certain stores where the newlyweds already chose a couple of things they like. Though I’ve got to admit, I think it’s a bit corny and not at all personal. That’s why I’m offering you a couple of alternatives.
– Choose a nice quote or a name of a song they like a lot. Ask someone (or do it yourself if you have a clear handwriting) on a large piece of paper. Add a frame and you’re done. A really personal present and such a lovely memento of the day.
– Porcelain’s always a success.
- Bedding with pillows that bear their initials. Though it should be a nice quality that feels heavy and rich.
– Take a lot of photos during the weeding and give the couple a photo album afterwards. That’s also a great present when you don’t really know the bridal couple (and the people attending). You don’t need to dread the moment of standing somewhere alone or having to say a lot. You’re trying to take great photos.
– Buy a nice morning robe for him and her. Also with their names printed on them. Sounds soft and bourgeois, but hey, that’s part of it all.
- Suitcases. A set, preferably from Rowena. They can use it to pack their stuff for the honey moon.
Stationary with their names and addresses printed on them. Bit old-fashioned, but extremely chic. And why not order a stamp ze vermaakt ons enorm their initials too.
– Arrange the wedding to be filmed by black-and-white film. Best part of it all is to show the black white clip on the wedding itself. Costs a bit, but incredibly cool.
Well you’ve got enough tips for now, right? And then there’s still one more thing. Send a big bouquet of flowers a week after the wedding. Easy thing to do and they’ll greatly appreciate it.
