In the Netherlands I already have the problem, let alone in New York. You have an evening off, you want to eat well and then it happens a total restaurant black out. Before you know it, you're back at the terrace of The Standard Grill eating and that's nice, really nice, but you know and feel that somewhere, not far from here, there is a much cooler spot. So..everyone pay attention, for that time you are in New York, at least you won't be at the cliché places.
191 Chrystle Street
Freemans is at the end of a dead-end alley, which is why you would never come here if you didn't know it existed. You eat rustic American food and prefer to sit outside. Although you shouldn't talk too loudly so as not to disturb the neighbors.
16 Bank Street
Think of a typical New York courtyard, with fire escape ladders. The restaurant consists of all small rooms and seating areas. Super cozy and the coolest people. It is located in a very nice neighborhood with all brownstone houses. A village in a big city. The food is okay and quite pricey but hey, you have a great evening.
0 Wythe Ave bij N 11th Williamsburg Brooklyn
Ultra hip place with the most beautiful view of Manhattan. Bring a jacket because it can be chilly up there on the rooftop.
