10 TIMES FUN AFTER LANDING AT SAN FRANCISCO AIRPORT

After 5 hours and 34 minutes of flying, at least 60 minutes of taxiing, 85 laps baggage carousel without my suitcase and thus about 20 minutes of sheer panic having endured that my entire stock of Cali-proof outfits was still in NY, I finally walked out of the airport loaded down. I was exhausted. There was a baby next to me, there was no food, just two a drink and the journey was long! I really underestimated that trip between Manhattan and San Francisco. So as a half Walker (Game of Thrones-language for ‘zombie’) I trudged with red tearful eyes from exhaustion to the parking lot. But my sleep mode was not for long. The sliding doors opened and with one great horn symphony I was welcomed. “OLAATJESSSS!!!!!” blèurted the blonde beauty hanging out of the window with a the pounding beat of Jason Derulo in the background. Okay, I'm awake. The party is about to start.

That blonde is my best friend by the way. She lives, just like me, in America. Both expat ladies, both scared of the dark and especially when our men are out of town for work or drinking. So we have one a rule. As soon as one our heartthrobs are out for more than 24 hours, we fly to each other to. Now it was my turn. And I had the most amazing road trip weekend ever! Hiiking, sipping wine, spotting deer, beach days, shopping, sipping coffee... It was absolutely the bomb and those found five days felt like found five weeks. All you need is a car, at least one a co-pilot and this list of the top 10 fun things to do after you land in SFA.

Whether it's the first, second, or thousandth time it is; a selfie with the GGolden GGate Bridge is a must! Always. Did you know this is the most photographed bridge in the world? Ha, there you go! And that means: hop hop hop, with that selfie stick towards the red bridge. Do check the weather report, because the infamous San Fran fog can throw a bit of soot, or no, mist into your photo moment.

This is the übest tourist attractions in the city where the rainbow flag is waving. A perfectly aligned platoon of Kodak- and Nikon mafia is also indispensable in this place where cars are carting down in a winding snake among a huge amount of flowers. To view this postcard, you might have to step over your I-want-to-be-like-a-local but it's worth it and quite just fun among all those hysterical chattering tourists with face masks.

On Fillmore Sstreet is where Jane sits, and at Jane kuyou can enjoy a lovely coffee, savor a fresh avocado sandwich, slurp organic juices and quinoa salads pop away. Super fun place in also in a a super fun street. For a good shopping session without lacking the daily dose caffeine in cool atmosfpheres you definitely need to be here are.

Okay, this is the last tourist spot on the list in SF, after this only fab and fashionable things will follow. Or well this is actually also a bit, fashion-like, since one of the painted ladies is the birthplace of perhaps the most famous twins in the world. Who remembers it? Full House? That's right here! But the houses are also pretty fab to look at., From now on you really need a car (and probably navigation),.

because, wining in Napa is the shit! From San Fran it's about an hour drive, but then you feel two almost in Italian vibes. The vineyards are green, w ds and this area is fairy-tale-like. There are tons of wineries, but they don't all seem to be equally good. Well knowneggand visited by the Kardashians is the Robert Mondavi Vineyard. You understand, we tore straight éhere to for those who don't know yet: I am a huge Kim K. & co-fan) and found it beautiful. Especially after a bottle of Fumé… or were there more?

A little below Napa is Yountville. A very small village with big houses, country shops and Bouchon. Go here for some wine compensation (a.k.a. a preventive breakage meal) of this star chef, who incidentally has a bakery just a door down where the line is always at least 15 meters long outside. Bizarre, but probably also bizarrely delicious.

The Americans call this ‘God’s true creation. And, I must say, Big Sur is quite beautiful! This coast is like a dream. There are various Vista Points, but the most beautiful one for me is the one at Bixby Bridge. Look and judge for yourself.

California has mountain lions. These are lions that are even scarier than those at our zoo. And then in the freaking wild! Hiiking is not the first thing that comes to mind as ‘fun, we're going to do’, but… I did it. With camel bag and all. And it was beautiful. Everywhere in California you can hiike. I went to Eagle Rock near San Jose, but I think it will be beautiful everywhere and a must for a real Cali trip.

Now eerily deserted and only inhabited by seagulls, but Alcatraz is super cool to to visit. There is an audiotour and yes that might be a bit silly, but because it is narrated by former inmates, it is really very interesting. Be sure to take the English tour, because in anyother language it’s not the old crooks who tell you how ite was in prison for the most dangerous at the time. Last but not least: Carmel. The town where not so long ago Clint Eastwood was mayor. It’s a bit like stepping onto the set of Gilmore Girls.

, but then with a beach from the travel guide. You really can’t miss this. And, totally fun: the beach is open for doggies. And that made it perfect for me as a purebred dog lover . What a dream this place is., After 5 hours and 34 minutes of flying, at least 60 minutes of taxiing, 85 rounds on the baggage carousel without my suitcase and thus about 20 minutes of sheer panic...
