GYMMING IN THE MOST BEAUTIFUL GYM IN THE WORLD
4 X exercises
Before we to New York left, I boldly declared that I would definitely run a lap around Central Park every day. Ahem, that didn't really work out for me, because it was so freezing cold that I just couldn't handle it. But of course, it couldn't be that I hadn't set foot in that park at all before leaving the city, so I bundled up, went for a walk and did some exercises on a bench along the way. If you watch this video, you might think I've run kilometers, but nothing could be further from the truth. May-Britt bravely ran after me in her Prada biker boots to hand me my jacket from time to time to warm up, so we didn't get further than one kilometer. But I had to and would do a little exercise in the coolest and largest gym in the world.
Now you might not have Central Park around the corner, but you do have another very nice green spot. And there is probably a bench there too, and I will explain what easy and effective exercises you can do after a run. So you have your own (free!) gym.
Stand with your back to the bench and place one foot (with your instep) on the bench. Up, hands on your hips and bend the leg that is resting on the bench down. Your knee can touch the ground. The further you stand on your standing leg (the foot that stays on the ground), the harder the exercises.
Sit on the bench with your legs at a 90-degree angle. Lower your buttocks towards the ground and keep your hands on the bench so you can lift yourself back up. Up and down, down and up.
Push up, but not on the ground, rather against the back of the bench. The more horizontal you are, the harder it gets.
This is a very good exercise for your glutes and legs and also good for some balance (very good for your core). Step with one foot onto the bench and lift your other knee all the way to your chest. Try to keep your hands at your waist and maintain your balance. Alternate with your leg.
Repeat all exercises 30 times and do this circuit 4 times.
