BET YOU DIDN'T KNOW THIS

5 things May does wrong with her bed

Because someone (I believe it was myself) said that a tidy bed leads to a more productive and successful day, I always neatly make my bed in the morning. There we go, blanket tight, fluff the pillows and everything looks okay again.

I find duvet covers hanging over balconies visually unappealing (just like a drying rack, yuck), so I actually never do that. Wrong, as it turns out from a study on our bed hygiene. Okay, that study was commissioned by a mattress brand Dream, so I wasn't really surprised that one of the findings was that you should buy a new mattress every eight years. But I did get something out of it. Here they come.

Open your windows or balcony doors when you get up. Throw your duvet open (so indeed) so that your mattress, blanket, and pillows cool down as quickly as possible. Moths and bacteria find it super cozy in your little den, so let's make it as uncomfortable for them as possible.

Wash your sheets on the hottest program. Then your left-leaning friend will say that this is not good for the environment and that washing at thirty degrees is puh-riema, but you won't be happy with bugs in your bed either.

Use a mattress topper. If you ever spill or mess in your bed, you can just have that mattress cleaned.

Flip your mattress every month. That's of course a hassle, but maybe you can tempt your cleaner to do it. And then give it a good vacuum on the bed itself.

And buy a new mattress every eight years. According to the people from Dream. Mine cost two Chanel bags, so I'm leaving it for now.
