6 EVENTS WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO IN THE NEW YEAR

For some strange reason, I always get nostalgic when the end of the year has to be closed and a new period is ushered in. But let me not see it too gloomily: the first months of the new year have, as always, a number of events in store for us that we are eagerly looking forward to.

Why we secretly all want it to be very, very quickly 2016:

1. The Oscars

When: February 28

Why: Chris Rock (how can you not love him?) is the big host of the evening and besides, we all want to know who will take home those coveted golden statuettes. Due to the time difference in Hollywood, the broadcast in the Netherlands starts late on Sunday evening and, as usual, goes on into the early hours of the night. That means a lot of coffee.

2. The annual shopping festival in Belgium: the sales

When: from Saturday, January 2 to Sunday, January 31

Why: the winter sales is the winter bargain period in Belgium. Grabbing and elbow work to get those items where discounts can go up to 80 percent. Hello, 80 percent!!

3. Who Is The Mole?

When: from Saturday, January 2

Why: because there are simply three series that the Netherlands is hooked on: Farmer Seeks Wife, Expedition Robinson, and perhaps the best: Who Is The Mole?. And because we are very curious about how fashion queen Cécile Narinx will do.

4. The Golden Globes

When: January 10

Why: because the Golden Globes is the most fun award show of the year. A

A lot less stiff than the Oscars, but still with beautiful dresses and cool prizes. And because we can greatly enjoy ‘The worst dressed lists’.

5. Amsterdam Fashion Week

When: From January 8 to 18

Why: because we all want to know what will be hot in the coming seasons, duh. And because we won't shy away from four days of watching monkeys and parading in high heels at the Westergas area.

6. The concerts of our favorite stars in the Netherlands

Ellie Goulding kicks off the list on January 26 at the Ziggo Dome and Jessie J will be seen on February 16 at the Heineken Music Hall. Unfortunately, we still have to wait a bit for Adele (June) and Justin Bieber (October). Damn.
