7 reasons why Anouk Smulders is so great

Six days ago we held the Look of the Year Awards. About three days before that, I suddenly thought it would be so nice if Anouk Smulders would present the award to Annemarie van Dijk. Someone else would a. get a bit stressed b. ask me why I hadn't thought of this earlier or c. kindly but firmly refer me to her agent. Not Anouk. Within five minutes I got a message: “Yessss super!!!”

That's why, and for 7 other reasons, I thought it was time to praise this woman. Because why is Anouk so great.

Because I've never seen her grumpy. Even when she was dancing/drinking/who-knows-what until 6:00 AM at Le Bain, she was particularly funny the next day. When I took her out for a hearty anti-hangover breakfast, she started laughing hard after five minutes because she had been looking at the drinks menu for five minutes.

Because she is so sweet to her people. Her stylist Manon had shopped all of Anouk's outfits for New York in the Netherlands, but since she had never been to New York, Anouk flew her in for a few days. Just for fun.

Because Anouk is particularly skilled in hand acrobatics. She can make those funny little bridges with her fingers and fold a pair of sunglasses from her hands.

Because she always brings a gift when you throw a party. On Friday, for example, I received the perfume ‘Diana Vreeland’ that she bought at Skins Cosmetics. How nice this is, really nice. And it even comes in a oh so divine little bottle.

Because together we can drink so much white wine that we are not even able to calculate how much 34 divided by 6 is anymore…

Because Anouk went running every day while filming Holland’s Next and always invited people along, which meant that by the end, Zwaan kleef had quite a nice group of people moving.

Because besides work, husband, and children, she is also active for the Stichting Hulphond.

So, I just wanted to say that. Anouk, I will drink a glass of white for you tonight and spray some DV later.
