7 things you can learn from Danie Bles

Danie. I even knew her before I got into this profession. My beloved coached Sylvie Meis and because Sylvie's taste was not as developed back then as it is now (god, how nicely I say that), ), he paired her with Danie Bles. And look what has happened. Since then I have known Danie and I have learned all of this from her.

It's not about you

You can become famous a hundred times as a stylist, your job remains stylist. You need to be aware of that. When Danie is working, it's not about her. I remember a shoot at Sylvie's home in Hamburg where Danie not only took care of the styling but also prepared lunch and even tidied up Sylvie's entire closet in between.

Dat is de geest.

Pamper and surprise

The absolute best PR machines are Rozemarijn de Witte (founder of Linda magazine) and Danie. Suddenly, at Christmas, you receive a package that makes you incredibly happy with candles, beautiful pans, a book, and all kinds of delicious things. Goodiebags are also something like that. Danie would rather die than organize something without gifts for her guests. On Thursday, she held the show for her new spring/summer collection. I couldn't be there because I was presenting for Eyewish the night before, but I did get a message from Danie that a bag with initials was ready for me.

Hard werken, hard spelen

If people say about me that I work hard, then they haven't met Danie yet. She goes from her own magazine to her own line to a styling school and a vintage store. But in between, she treats herself to nice vacations with her beloved and children or she treats herself to an inspiration trip. Coming up on her schedule? Los Angeles.

Her in the lead role

Danie has the best hair in the world. I really don't know anyone with such beautiful, thick, and long hair. She doesn't do anything for it, except that she occasionally has it blow-dried by a professional. Used to be every week, but since she has children, there is a bit less time for that. But when she needs to look good, she books a blow-dry appointment. In the meantime, she can work comfortably on her mobile.

Food is important

If Danie organizes a trip, you know you'll eat well. She finds it important and delicious. On the plane, she boards with a suitcase full of snacks that she picks up from her favorite places, which she starts on as soon as they have taken off. I really hope I get to join her on an intercontinental flight one day.

Discretion is key

I can chat wonderfully with Danie, but there's no way she would ever reveal anything about Sylvie or any other VIP she dresses. She is so discreet that I don't even dare to ask.

Her shows are an experience

A catwalk with some models is really too boring for Danie. She wants to present an experience. She did that first in Ibiza and on Thursday in an old villa where she created still lifes with her models that she posed while painting and reading. In all cheerfully uplifting outfits from ByDanie, of course.
