Amayzine

Amayzine has been around for 2 years

And it went like this

Well, you probably noticed; we had a party yesterday. Hundreds of bottles of champagne (from Moët et Chandon), wine (from Grapedistrict) and some bottles Pellegrino were brought in, our dearest and most fun Amayzine friends were on the guest list and your editors ran from M.A.C Cosmetics to The Building for makeup and hair, to be ready for the guests at 5:00 PM, polished, styled, groomed, and combed.

As always everything comes together at the last moment. I didn't have a dress until an hour before the start, May was still struggling with a head full of curlers half an hour before the start, and Jet was flying somewhere between Benefit brow bar and OPI nail polish bar. But it all turned out well, and in preparation, we drank a glass of champagne while the first guests trickled in.

It’s always so incredibly fun to see how our office is transformed into a real disco palace, complete with a disco ball. The space was decorated with the most beautiful flowers from Bloomon, because for that you really have to be nowhere else, and we received a special pink macaron tower of Sugarlips Cakes that we even got to nibble on today. So, not a bad party, with all our favorite Amayzine people. And a very special person, namely Simone Dernee, the former fashion director of Marie Claire and starting next week at Amayzine. Yup, that’s right. Seriously, some really cool things are going to come out of that.

At the moment of writing, I’m sitting here with trembling hands and a shivering body in our regular hangover lunchroom, with May on the right who is completely fine and diligently typing away. I’m feeling different. The hangover isn’t too bad, but I’m really close to getting sick and especially I did something super duper handy last night (walking into a door) which has left me with a puffy purple throbbing eye, and that feels particularly unpleasant.

Anyway, it was all worth it. Eva Jinek gave the opening speech and addressed all the attendees, after which she handed the microphone to May. Then came Debbie Dhillon (you know, finalist of Holland’s Next Top Model last year) onto the stage to present the stunning Amayzine cover to winner Loiza. The other finalists joined in and also received their own cover, which of course now hangs above their beds. Right, girls?

Lovely girls from Showpony rolled around on roller skates and took photos of our guests with incredibly fun colored polaroid cameras, very handsome men from Fevertree served everyone large gin and tonics, DJs Claire Slootheer and Tedje Fliers provided the music and white containers with pink forks went around with the tastiest food from Ali Amsterdam. When the last guests leave with their very well-filled Amayzine goodie bag, the Amayzine girls and PilotStudio boys take over. Jet is at the turntable and her DJ talent is unmistakable. Just like my dancing talent, by the way. Our amazing Theo (who organized the whole party together with Saskia, so a lot of praise and applause for them) is quite smooth in the hips and my Dutch clumsiness became clearer with every dance step. There’s a video of that which really should never be seen by anyone.

All in all, it was another spectacle. Next year we will undoubtedly do it all over again.
