WE RUN AMS
On May 16, I will run for Nike 10 kilometers through Amsterdam together with hundreds of other women. The Amayzine editorial team has already reserved a terrace along the route where they will, of course, cheer me on with a glass of wine in hand. Ah, there must be a difference.
Preparation is half the work
Yesterday I cycled to the Olympic stadium for the first training. I haven't really run much lately, so I was a bit nervous and I also had really sore calves from a Double Trouble training with Robby. Of course, only running girls were invited and there’s no way you’ll be the last one, so grit your teeth and go.
Running in style
Nike loves to pamper, I experienced that once during a press trip in Berlin. In the locker room, there was also a nice outfit waiting for me. Seriously, people, it makes me happier than an expensive bag. Tights, sports bra, dry fit shirt, and a little jacket. I wore my own Nike Zoom Structure 18. You might not know it, but it feels like you’re flying in those shoes. I put my hair in a ponytail, pulled my jacket up high, and stepped onto the icy athletics track of the Olympic stadium.
3K, exhausted
After a warm-up and some push-ups (I didn’t want to fail here either, so it’s miraculous that I can type this now) the race began. 3 kilometers, so seven and a half laps. The idea was to run hard so that the Nike trainers (who also ran along) could see what level you were at. I seriously ran my lungs out. I don’t know my exact time yet, I’ll hear that later and based on that, I’ll get a schedule to run the race injury-free in May.
An evening outfit
While running, I turned off the “I’m completely wrecking my calves now” button, so that meant I actually couldn’t run anymore afterwards. Nike wouldn’t be Nike if there weren’t some sports masseuses waiting for us. After a really hot shower, there was a clothing bag with my name on it in the locker room. Inside was a wonderfully soft tracksuit with matching shoes.
Cooking with Rens
We were taken by taxi to restaurant Magazzino. There, Rens Kroes someone was waiting for us to prepare a healthy dinner together. I was with Women’s Health Marloes ‘chef chopping chicken, onion, garlic, and mushrooms’ and we cooked everything in coconut oil. Next to me, Daisy from I Love Health and Merel from The Green Happiness was spiraling twenty zucchinis and Jenny from Healthyfans made a goat cheese cream sauce. All of that together became a delicious healthy zucchini pasta. Another group made hummus, healthy chocolate balls for dessert, and a beet juice. Don’t worry, there were glasses of wine going around here and there. We chatted endlessly about food and sports, enjoyed the food, took selfies, and posted a lot on Instagram. Thank you Nike, thank you Rens for this incredibly nice day and evening. And now, of course, to run that 10K super fast.
