THE FINAL OF HOLLAND'S NEXT TOP MODEL: AMAYZINE WAS THERE
Just like last year, Team Amayzine headed in full regalia last night to Studio 21 in Hilversum. Earlier, the editorial team transformed into a catwalk where the aspiring top models would lick their fingers, because we had to collectively determine The Dress for May.
A whole rack full of beautiful and lovely things was brought in for that: Temperley London, Blumarine, Blugirl, Max Mara – everything was there. May kept tripping towards the restroom for a quick change and then danced back to us, where we had set up a chair for her to sit on. This way, she would also be seen on the broadcast, so we could best judge the dresses. That one was a bit too figure skater-ish, that other one too baggy, another one just kind of meh but then, then it was spot on. A stunning black piece from Sportmax, you all got to see it yesterday.
May had to appear in Hillywood around 3:00 PM for rehearsals, we arrived around 8:00 PM. The gigantic studio was already packed with people. Nervous friends, tense parents, cheering fans, and waving banners. We quickly took our places and in the meantime, there was a sort of pre-show going on under the inspiring guidance of the audience warmer that is not broadcasted, but is meant to get the audience in the right mood. That audience warmer, he keeps shouting very often that we need to go “completely out of our minds”. Crazy.
And then: showtime. The jury is brought into the hall, Anouk steps onto the stage and the models are ready. The audience indeed goes completely out of their minds and especially Loiza's supporters are well represented. Jet and sales director Danielle are sitting next to me and we all have our theories about who is going to win, although it quickly became clear that Loiza can hardly not win, so hard is the support for her.
When it turns out that it is indeed Loiza who gets to take the title home, there is little left of the roof. She is so happy, it is touching to see. With goosebumps and everything. We drink a glass of wine at the afterparty and back in the car, we all agree on one thing: Loiza wins, and we have the most beautiful cover for our sparkling new magazine ever.
