Hoe je je haar doet

– accessorized topknot –

According to our Rachel, the headband is making a big comeback. Not a small band, but really a grand one. The basis; a messy bun on top of the head, also known as the topknot. Not a small ballerina bun, but really the ‘undone’ feel. Adriana from The Building AMS shows us how it’s done. The undone topknot for daytime, but with an accessory for the work drinks.

Braiding
Make the hair a bit stiffer with hairspray. This way, everything stays in place a bit better. Divide the hair into two sections, so you have a front and back part. You can either make the bun right away, or – if you want an extra detail and you’re handy – create a braid. After braiding, bring both pieces together and make a ponytail.

Teasing
The ponytail from the braid, or the rest of the hair, can also be sprayed first with hairspray. Then you’ll tease everything. This immediately gives you an undone feel, but it also looks like you have three times as much hair as usual. And that’s nice, because then you have quite a hefty bun on your head.

Top knot
You secure the bun as high as possible on your head. Nice and messy and therefore not too perfect. Secure it with U-pins, so you don’t see any elastics, but this way your bun stays in place. You slide U-pins into the hair and twist them back. Otherwise, there’s a chance the pins will slip out. Also check from every angle that the bun looks nice. With your fingers, pull out some strands to enhance the undone feel.

Accessory
You can use a regular headband, but working with ribbons makes it a bit more catchy and exciting. It doesn’t have to be a perfect bow, that actually gives a nice effect.
