‘A day without chocolate is a day not lived. If I ever get a tattoo, this sentence will definitely be taken into consideration.’ Thus spoke Carolien. Are you reading along?
Last weekend, the Vondelpark Open Air Theatre was the place to be: the annual Sissy-Boy Summer Market took place here. From home accessories to jewelry, delicious snacks, and live entertainment from the Bouillabaisse girls. With our ‘magical’ apple peeler and live sung songs, we put a smile on everyone's face. The ultimate favorite among our young audience was, how could it be otherwise, ‘Hakuna Matata’. I immediately felt like having a Disney Classics marathon! Slumber party, anyone?!
The hours I have spent walking in heels in LA, I can literally count on one hand. It's wonderful to walk all day in sneakers or flip-flops! When I wore high heels for the first time again in the Netherlands, I was immediately punished with a sharp pain on the inside of my foot... So I had to go looking for nice flat shoes for the summer. Until I stumbled upon these jewels at Shoe-S! Thanks to the platform at the front, the heel height is perfect. Uhh, in how many colors does this model come?
On Monday, the Disaronno Mixing Star Contest took place at The Grand Amsterdam. As the host of the evening, I naturally had to test all the cocktails extensively to be able to join the conversation. Luckily, they were small samples, so I didn't have my microphone upside down after cocktail number one... All the drinks were little works of art in themselves. The most special one I found was the Disaronno Signature Cocktail with milk and rosemary, among other things. I immediately resolved to visit one of the many cocktail bars that Amsterdam has to offer more often on Friday nights!
‘A day without chocolate is a day not lived.’ If I ever get a tattoo, this sentence will definitely be taken into consideration. At SLA, I discovered these raw chocolate bars from GLOW. Super healthy (I like to assume that everything at SLA is überhealthy: even the organic wine...). Jon looked at me after a small bite as if I was crazy and immediately pulled a Tony Chocolonely from the cupboard. But I really liked it, and all that raw cocoa gives you an instant energy boost. Actually, it's good that Jon isn't a fan: now I don't have to hide them in the house :-).
When Paul Verhoeven is in the country, we have dinner. This has almost become a tradition; going to Café Amsterdam with a fixed group. Every time, there's always an anecdote told that I will never forget.
And a pattern has even emerged in the menu: artichoke as a starter and semolina pudding for dessert.
