A week full of celebration and for that Carolien took out the most beautiful outfits from the closet. Are you reading along?

Four years ago, the first edition of the Fashion Bash took place: the charity event where I raised money for a good cause through fashion. It was fantastic to see how many ‘famous’ friends wanted to commit to charity. So when I was called by Stories Amsterdam to present their big charity gala for the Aids Fund last Friday, I immediately said yes. Initially, this disease always felt like it was far away from me, but I was shocked to read about the increasing number of HIV-infected people in the Netherlands and the fact that this disease is a growing epidemic. The most moving part of the evening was the story of a young woman who became infected with HIV by her boyfriend, could no longer work, and would never see her wish for children come true. Fortunately, with the raised 38,000 euros, we can contribute to research, awareness, and education about AIDS and HIV.

On Saturday, I was still enjoying the sunshine on the terrace in my bare legs... But when I got on my bike on Sunday morning, unsuspectingly wearing a summer jacket, I nearly got acute pneumonia from feeling that icy air. So that afternoon, I immediately swapped my summer wardrobe for thick sweaters, large scarves, and warm coats. Secretly, I couldn't wait to wear my winter items, because this teddy coat from Dante6 has been burning in my closet for three weeks. It has a very high petting factor (read: being hugged by strangers on the street) and the coat is also wonderfully warm. You understand: this coat will not come off for the next five months...

As I said: winter has arrived. So in the mornings, I leave the house heavily bundled up in a winter coat, scarf, and matching gloves. I have been a fan of Laimböck gloves for years, so I check the website around this time every year for a new winter pair. It always starts with five pairs in my shopping cart, and then the challenge is to reduce this to one pair (or two). Normally, I always shout ’fashion above function“, but in this case, I went for the warmest option. Just before I wanted to click ”pay‘, my husband came shopping with me and insisted on having this weekend bag (quote: ’All your weekend bags are impractical and inconvenient“). But it looks so good with my new gloves that he will hardly get to see that bag...

We had been looking forward to this for weeks, and Monday was the day: the premiere of the new movie “Yes, I Do”, directed by Kees van Nieuwkerk. Dressed in Avelon, Jon and I walked the red carpet, and we had to answer the question of when our Big Day would take place at least ten times. Jon hosted the evening with flair, and afterwards, Kees gave a beautiful speech. Elise Schaap played the fantastic role of the clumsy and disarming Roos, who ultimately found the love of her life closer than she thought. And I have always thought Martijn Lakemeier was a good actor, but after this film, he will also be on my list of ‘sexiest actors’. Oh, when are we going to say “yes, I do”? We'll keep that a secret for now, but Amayzine is of course the first to hear this...
