Celebrity jojo

They may have access to the best personal trainers and nutritionists in the world, but celebrities are not immune to struggles with weight. Just like ‘regular people’, the battle against the pounds can sometimes be incredibly heavy, resulting in them becoming that way too. Only to later triumph gloriously. Today we take a closer look at the most famous yo-yos.

Recently, Kelly Clarkson had a run-in with a British journalist who called her out on her weight. The American singer has been a bit rounder since the birth of her daughter than we are used to, but she claims to be just as happy. “I was already called fat when I just started Idols participating. Sometimes I eat more and sometimes less. I have little problem with it myself.”

Oprah has always been very open about her struggle with weight and regularly shared the ups and downs of her battle on her TV show. At her thinnest, she weighed about 70 kilos, but due to a thyroid problem and a poor lifestyle, she has also nearly hit 100. In her O Magazine she said about this: “My goal is not to be thin, my goal is to have a strong and healthy body. I want to learn to embrace my body and be grateful for what I have.”

Kirstie Alley has literally lost almost 100 kilos over the years. At her heaviest, she would have weighed around 110 kilos, but then managed to lose about 35 kilos with the help of the American weight loss program Jenny Craig. When the Look Who’s Talking-actress was asked a few years later to participate in Dancing With The Stars she was already back to a size 44, but due to the daily dance rehearsals, the kilos flew off and she ended up with a size 40. Kirstie then participated for a second time and said about this: “The grand prize doesn’t matter to me, I just want to be a size 36 again.”

At the beginning of her career in 1999, she was often considered too thin by public opinion. Nowadays she has a rounder figure, but depending on her work, there are sometimes quite significant fluctuations. “I have been criticized for being both too thin and too fat, but I love my body. My husband loves my body. We have a healthy and happy son and the rest doesn’t really matter to me.”

After she lost a lot of weight for her role in The Dukes of Hazzard in 2005, Jessica Simpson extensively showed off her slim and slender body in the famous accompanying music video. In recent years, however, the blonde has had quite a solid figure and received quite a bit of criticism for it. Partly due to the two adorable children she had in quick succession, and after the arrival of her son, she radically changed course. Nowadays, Jessica is super slim and above all very muscular.

When the world got to know her, she was super slim with thin spindly legs. But nowadays the singer is more voluptuous. Her pregnancy with twins Monroe and Moroccan was the death knell for her figure, after which she fought back with the help of Jenny Craig and lost almost 20 kilos. Of those 20 kilos, a bit has come back now, but Mariah is happier than ever.
