She came third in Holland's Next Top Model because she definitely had the looks, but not the height to make it as a top model here. So what did Debbie and her agent from Touché Models do? They decided to seek their fortune in a country where Debbie has the perfect height.
Fortunately for us, she also brought a camera and a little laptop.
This Friday, a friend from the modeling agency invited all the models to come over for dinner. She has an Indian woman who cooks for her, and it was so delicious that I seriously helped myself five times. It was so tasty and cozy, and we just sat at the table for so long with food in front of me; I couldn't help it.
The next day, I thought I was free, but suddenly two jobs came in. A TV commercial and a casting for Maybelline. It often happens that I hear last minute that I need to be somewhere, so I actually never leave my neighborhood so I can always be there quickly. But now it was already late afternoon, and my roommates and I had decided to visit a supermarket. You don't have one nearby; the closest one is a forty-minute drive.
When we arrived there, we got a call saying we would be picked up at home in thirty minutes for a casting. But of course, we weren't home, and there was no time to go back, so we had to take a rickshaw to the casting ourselves!
Fortunately, we did arrive on time...
In the end, we really got home at 9:00 PM and ordered wraps from a place across the street. It was too late to cook, and we were way too tired...
Here in India, they don't have tortillas, but they use chapati roti as a tortilla. A clever invention, and this wrap was really super tasty.
In the evening, I saw that the Grazia March issue was out with my photos in it. I was so full of energy and pride that I had to celebrate with the banana cake I bought that afternoon. My first editorial from my modeling career is in stores, woohoo.
The next day, I had a jewelry print meeting and a go-see YRF, which stands for Yash Raj Films. .
Before I went to the meeting, I took a quick selfie at home, and in the evening, I cooked Chinese food. Rice with teriyaki chicken and a vegetable mix in soy sauce.
After a nice night's sleep, I had a fitting for lingerie; the rest of the day I was free.
‘In the evening, I made wraps with a potato/cauliflower mix in an Indian style. Just like the wraps I ordered across the street at the beginning of the week, remember? I had some pumpkin left over, so I added that too. I hate wasting things and try to use everything I still have.
This way, you also discover new dishes with new flavors.
On the last day of the week, I was free and first visited the gym, and then I went out with my model friends.
When we got home, we saw the guard of our building sleeping right in front of the door on newspapers. Even when I took a flash photo, he was still asleep. Well, that gives a safe feeling, haha.
I wish you a lovely week and will catch up with you next week. With new adventures and new stories.
