Debbie Dhillon may not have won Holland’s Next Top Model, but she did land a contract with Touché Models and is now rocking the Indian fashion world. She had her first real fashion week and tells you how it really went down.
I found the fitting days and everything so exciting and fun, but I couldn't wait for the shows to actually start. I showcased 22 outfits in five days.
If you ask me how I found fashion week, my answer is: great!
You get so much energy from all the people around you, everyone is pulling at you and you have about 5 hair/makeup changes, where everything has to change very quickly.
We were really crammed in a super small space with a lot of people, so everyone was shouting and stressed and all. In such moments, it's best to just close your eyes for a bit and center yourself, otherwise, you’ll just drive yourself crazy.
Furthermore, a lot is expected of you; you have to continuously give energy, because even during rehearsals, they want to see what you’ve got and how you will actually walk the catwalk.
The only downside is that after a week, you are really exhausted. I left my house every morning at 7:00 AM and didn’t get home until between 11:00 PM and midnight. For eight days straight.
After this week, I really needed my sleep, so I made a wise decision and went home alone.
What the assignment was? You’ll see that next week in my diary.
Much love, Debbie xx
