DEO DETOX
There is again a hype going on, guys. The so-called ‘deo detox’. A week without deodorant would actually ensure that you sweat less and eventually also smell less. smell. I am very attached to my stick and have been wearing the same deodorant for about ten years. But I also like going au naturel sometimes and enjoy a challenge from time to time. So I bravely shouted at the editorial office that I could definitely go five days without a product under my armpits.
This is what happened...
The first day of the challenge started off well. Out of habit, I had already rolled my armpits completely. I could therefore immediately wipe it off with a washcloth. Quite annoying. Once I arrived at work, hastily and having biked way too hard, I noticed that the dampness under my arm had not gone away after one hour. Fortunately, it still smelled like nothing, so I wasn't worried. But as the hours passed, the greenhouse effect grew. While routinely combing my hair, somewhere in the afternoon, I noticed that there was indeed an unpleasant smell coming from my armpits. Startled, I dropped my brush and awkwardly pressed my arms against my body. Someone is going to smell me! Yuck. I couldn't wait to go home to wash my clammy arm grooves. Once out of the shower, I realized that I was facing the next challenge: exercising. Because if there’s one thing that produces a lot of sweat, it’s intensive movement. During the workout, I could only think about washing my armpits. I therefore ran straight to the bathroom after prematurely ending my workout.
I couldn't wait to go home to wash my clammy arm grooves.
Meanwhile, I am on day two and I find it terrible. Although I biked more calmly this morning to prevent sweating outbreaks, I feel incredibly dirty after one day without deodorant. I can't help but call a friend who is a dermatologist. She bursts out laughing, I can almost feel the spit from her laughter through the phone. “You are already the third person I know trying this and I tell everyone the same: you always sweat, even when you sit still, so stopping deodorant can't reduce sweating.” Out of joy, I want to do a happy dance and I would love to throw my arms high above my head. But I just remember in time that freshness is hard to find and I don't want to annoy my tablemates. So I calmly walk to the Amayzine beauty cabinet and spritz my little arms contentedly. I may not have conquered the challenge, but I haven't gassed my colleagues (to my knowledge) and I am a bit wiser.
