EDITOR’S DIARY
The fashion holiday has begun. Not entirely of course because we are indeed working and perhaps even working our hardest, but this entire fashion period lasts exactly six weeks and mainly takes place abroad.
We started this week in Berlin. Unfortunately, I couldn't (luxury problem because I was invited to be at Marie Claire’s Prix de la Mode so I sent our entertainment editor Charlene. We were invited by MarcCain to watch their show, interview Sylvie Meis and question Liz Hurley and Katie Holmes on the red carpet. We couldn't refuse, could we?
Although the downtown program had already started, it really kicked off on Thursday at the Westergasfabriek site with the shows. I got to wander backstage all afternoon and talk to sixty incredibly fun women about how everything works there.
After a little makeup from Angelique Woudenberg, I crawled with Jet onto a cushion in the front row to watch the Avelon show. It was stunning. Wearable art. Hats off and a bow to Erik Frenken who chose Amsterdam instead of Paris now and thereby helped the Fashion Week to an even better image.
After Avelon followed Edwin Oudshoorn with an impressive show inspired by the death of his father. As I type this, it's almost time to go to Aziz's show and while you read this… rapapa rapapa, I am detoxing. Actually not really me because I love my glass and cheese too much, but one must do something with their good intentions. I will tell you all about it and hope that when you take a sip of wine/champ/gin/whatever, you enjoy it extra and think just a tiny, tiny bit of me.
