Cutting, coloring, brushes
– a new home in no time –
Actually, I am incredibly predictable. If you open my wardrobe, you'll find almost only black and white pieces, with a little exception for a gray jeans or a striped skirt. And if you come to my little house, the foundation is also laid by black and white. Really, those two are the basis of my life and I can tell you that it's super handy.
Let's be clear. The most iconic fashion items belong to the black-and-white family. Little black dress, crispy white shirt, black pistol boots. If you choose those, you're pretty much always good. Of course, I like to add a touch of color to a look every now and then. Just as an addition, not instead of. So occasionally a pink clutch, a yellow sneaker, or a red lip is pulled from the closet. It's the same in my house. A wall in pink or yellow is really no problem.
You could say that fashion and living are actually very much the same. You always want to have a perfect look and you also want to come home to a place that looks nice. I must admit that I quite often bring a brush and a pot of paint into the house to try something new. Actually just as often as I visit Zara or H&M, so do the math. A wall can be repainted so easily, and a chair can also get a new color, so with just one coat of paint, you have a new home. I first make a nice board on Pinterest to gather all the inspiration, then I cut and paste to put the prettiest colors together and sketch out a few things to see where the furniture should go.

So that's why I presented you with my new mood board. Of course; calm in the base, with a small, surprising color accent. This time it's pink. The colors come from the lovely brand Farrow & Ball, a brand that has been around since 1946 and has thus earned its stripes in paint. Those colors have the cutest names; Mouse’s Back, Mole’s Breath (haha!) and Cat’s Paw. My favorite colors at the moment are; All White, Cornforth White, and Nancy’s Blushes.
I can imagine that you now also really want to tinker and transform that house. That's great because I challenge you. Make a mood board with inspiring images, which can be anything; interior, food, fashion, and travel, and of course your three favorite colors from Farrow & Ball that you can find on their website where you can also request a color card. You can cut and paste, photoshop, or photograph, whatever you want. Do your best, post your mood board on Instagram with #MYFABMOODBOARD and #AMAYZINE and the most beautiful mood board can win three pots of paint in your favorite colors, where you can choose from the very matte chalk-like wall paint (Estate Emulsion) or a pot of Estate Eggshell with which you can paint a wooden piece of furniture. You can really make that mood board come true.
