I don't need to explain who Carolien is, because every Wednesday you get a glimpse into her life. A life she loves to share with us, but I wonder, what do we not know about her? Carolien, go ahead and bare your soul...
What does nobody know about you?
“I am a huge fan of R&B and soul music. From D’Angelo to Jill Scott and Maxwell: they are all on repeat. My favorite playlist on Spotify is called “Lazy ass honey-dipped soul”. That says enough, I think...”
What do friends find incredibly annoying about you?
“That I always want to plan a thousand and one things in a day, which is quite difficult. So I often get called back by my friends to slow down a bit, and I can tell you: that’s pretty hard. So now that I’ve been waking up with a pretty bad headache for a whole week, I was quite proud when I canceled all my plans tonight to just sit on the couch. Well, a little interview for Amayzine can always fit in, right?”
Do you have an obsession?
“I used to bite my nails all the time, but thank God for Shellac! I still bite them quite neurotically, but luckily my nails are now intact.”
Do you have a secret hobby?
“I collect little bags! Yes, also those beautiful handbags, but that’s not what I mean. Little bags from stores, in all shapes and sizes. To Jon's great annoyance, there are now two huge bags in the storage room filled with paper bags from brands like Chanel and Hermès, but also those canvas bags with logos, funny texts, and prints on them. In the spirit of: they are handy for groceries! But do I really need 30 of them?!”
What is your biggest addiction?
“Desserts! Not a day goes by without me eating a macaron, carrot cake, or half a bar of Tony Chocolonely (sometimes all these things in one day…). I am quite scared that sooner or later I will be presented with the bill and suddenly have to work out five times a week to maintain this addiction. But luckily, I love dessert recipes labeled gluten-free, raw, and vegan, so nowadays I can enjoy more responsible “snacking” (she says, while devouring a raw chocochip cookie and a banana/choco/oat cookie).”
What is the biggest blunder you made during a work moment?
“Recently, I walked from the car, in my outfit and my phone still “on”, to the filming location for the Zwarte Tulp. Once I arrived, they turned out to be filming at the front door: so I had to approach the house very quietly and carefully. When I finally reached the crew and the director just shouted “action”, my phone rang loudly. Everyone looked at me quite irritated and the recordings were abruptly stopped. “Yes, of course, Carolien Spoor is back on set,” was called out cynically. It also turned out that a camera crew from the “making of” was present, so the whole blunder was recorded! Okay, here we go, click here and you see the moment in action.”
