HERMèS PERFUMERY OPENS IN NYC

You know it's good when Hermès invites you to something. Every detail has been thought through and everything is always beautiful, from the invitation to the goodie bag. Jet and I went once, almost a year ago, to the Hermès Silk Ball in Amsterdam and it was so ridiculously well organized and decorated that it felt like we were at a very fancy French party – even though it was really in a rainy Amsterdam. But I'm digressing, because now we are neither in Paris nor in Amsterdam, but in New York, and there was another Hermès party.

Because there, Hermès opened their very first perfumery in the world. A store that is indeed completely filled with all the scents the brand has brought to market – from perfume to scented candles. Through a real ‘experience’, we were brought to the store in groups, and that experience started outside, in a small beautiful park. Through snacks and drinks, we walked through a flower alley (as in: thousands of flowers that were hung like a bow and you could walk underneath) and eventually we arrived at the store.

First impression? It smelled so good. But well, that is of course quite obvious in a perfumery. We had been instructed beforehand to download the special app, because we would need it during the experience. In the store, there were small pictures everywhere, and if you held your app above them, a moving picture appeared through augmented reality.

Like above, I had to put on those glasses, hold my phone in selfie mode in front of it and poof! Suddenly I had a horse's head as my head. It's quite funny. If you're in New York soon, definitely stop by. They have everything everything everything and if you're still looking for a nice gift: you can have your own leather case made for the perfume bottle, complete with initials and self-chosen thread color. And if you don't know anyone who needs a gift, I am always happily available.

The store is located at 225 Liberty Street.
