Hip and safe jogging in the dark
That it gets dark earlier and light later in the morning is a bit of an adjustment when it comes to sports. I can imagine that. You find it hard to get out of bed and in the evening you prefer to dive onto the couch rather than go out into the dark for a jog. But you are all incredibly loyal athletes, so you still dutifully put on your gear after work for a little sweat session outdoors. The fact that it's dark means you have to adjust a few things to run as safely as possible, and since it’s getting colder, it’s important to dress differently. I’ll make sure you still look super duper cool. – My favorite sports brand is Nike. They have vests and tights with reflective stripes or dots. And Nike wouldn’t be Nike if the models weren’t always sexy as well.
– Adjust your route, run where there is plenty of lighting.
– Run in company when it’s really dark. More fun and safer.
– Buy lights that you can attach to your shoe. They can also just be bike lights. Seriously, you have to be seen, otherwise you’ll get run over. Mom has spoken.
– Run against the traffic. That can be a bit annoying for cyclists, but just ignore that. This way you can see all the fast traffic coming.
– Run without music if necessary, even though that might be very boring. Just turn it down a bit. Then you can still hear the traffic.
– Oh yes, if it really gets colder, always do a good warm-up. If you start with cold muscles, you’ll quickly get injuries and you don’t want that.
