How the Kenzo sweater took over my life
– my great love is no more –
As you have probably read, about a year and a half ago a turning point in my life occurred. For those who haven't read it yet, I'll type a brief summary; Kenzo became my favorite. I wanted THE sweater, Jet and Lies bought it in London – which obviously made it just a little bit more special – and since then it was unconditional love.
A trial period was not necessary. The sweater was my new home and actually, every look became so much more fun when I just threw that sweater over my shoulder. The love blossomed and blossomed, because Kenzo-sweater-tiger got an expansion with the Kenzo-espadrillesand not long after, a Kenzo-tank top followed. And still, all looks became much nicer when I added just one of those items to an outfit.
Since Kenzo-sweater-tiger is quite a winter sweater it hangs in the summer on the prettiest hanger in the closet. You understand that I needed a replacement to get through the summer, because by now Kenzo is just as integrated into my life as Céline, iPhone and my daily make-up routine. Found it quickly, because I was drooling as I scoured the website during the sale period and three days later I was richer with a new love.
On the first day, Kenzo-sweater-summer immediately went to Amayzine HQ to shoot a lookie. I was so happy, because Kenzo immediately got the attention it needed. After that, it traveled to Berlin and got to show off at some parties. Kenzo-sweater-summer was lovingly received by everyone and we turned out to be an unconditional match. I had even stood in front of the mirror to create twenty outfits, because my South Africa trip would become twenty times more beautiful and fun with this sweater. After all that traveling and bustling, it was definitely time for a refresh and that's where the story begins. Or actually: that's where it ends.
Kenzo-sweater-summer went into the washing machine. Hand wash program, thirty degrees and inside out. Caution at the top and believe me: I really checked those washing instructions ten times and the rules from May-Britt too. Ten minutes later it was done and I hung it up, feeling overjoyed. That overjoyed feeling was gone within a minute, because Kenzo-sweater-summer turned out to have about ten centimeters shorter sleeves and the band at the bottom was also stretched. The brand new sweater suddenly looked twenty years old. I tried to somewhat ignore the sadness by just wearing Kenzo-sweater-summer to work, but my colleagues reacted in disbelief when they saw me coming. Ignoring it was really no longer an option.
Alright. A lot of sadness, tears, and total ignoring actions later (now a week to be precise) I am still left with a new but old Kenzo sweater. Kenzo customer service must be on vacation because they have totally ignored my three emails. I understand them (because I ignore the result of my washing action too) and now it's just a matter of waiting. And even though there is no Kenzo sweater anymore, it still dominates my life immensely. A life without and with Kenzo sweater. I can't wait until winter comes and I can take my other one out of the closet.
