HOW TO

Every day eyeshadow

I have to confess something to you. M.A.C Cosmetics and I are actually a loving couple. Actually for a long time, but the fire keeps burning. Our secret? He surprises me regularly and keeps innovating. Just like with the new eyeshadow palette that he released in four lovely shades. Do you know what my darling arranges for me? The talented and most cheerful Brazilian makeup artist Flavio, who demonstrates in a lovely chair how I can create a beautiful every day eyeshadow look. So easy peasy, you’ll be able to do this at home too, just wait and see.

Choose your color

I wanted a subtle look that I could wear both to the office and to a bloody mary (my favorite) night out with the girls. So dear Flavio recommended me the Amber Times Nine palette: a composition of nine warm beige and brown shades with a little gold in the middle.

Priming

Flavio first applies the Perky primer over the entire eyelid. This ensures that the eyeshadow stays put all day and night, and you can also blend the different colors more easily.

Eyeliner

Then eyeliner is applied as eyeliner. For this, you use the Coffee color. Flavio explains to me that the eyeliner is currently replacing the tight eyeliner. This creates a slightly looser effect.

First base color: Cosy Grey

This is a matte beige color that you apply to the entire eyelid as a base. You can use a slightly larger brush for this because you don’t need to be precise. The 235 for example. If you have too much eyeshadow on your brush: tap it off. Blowing can bring some saliva along (yes sorry) and that’s not so fresh for your brush.

Second color: Aromatic

This is the darkest color of the palette that you will use to draw. For this, use a more precise brush; the 219 Pencil Brush is very suitable. You color the outer ends of your eyelid in the shape of a little triangle dark. Let this fade a bit under your eye. Then you draw a line under your eye with this color.

Third color: Creative Copper

This is the gold color that you apply to the middle of your eyelid with a thickness of about half a centimeter. Flavio applies this with the 239-brush, because it’s a bit thinner, but also soft so you can apply the color in one swipe.

Fourth color: Don’t Tell

Again a dark color that you draw in a line just under your brow bone. This falls right into the crease of your eyelid.

Fifth color: Rice Paper

You use this color as a highlighter for the inner corner of your eye. On top of this, you apply some of the gold color from point six. Then you blend everything together so that it flows nicely into each other. You can do this with the special Blending Blush, number 24.

Eyeliner

We’re going to work with eyeliner again and Flavio explains a very handy trick to me. By applying a line under your upper eyelid, your lashes look longer and the color of your eyes stands out even more. This looks a bit scary and takes some practice, but the result is there. The pencil you use for this is the Technakohl Liner, because it stays put better than a waterproof one and smudges less (otherwise your whole eye will be a mess). You also apply this as the lower line.

Mascara

Finally, the Extended Play Lash mascara is applied. You apply mascara as follows: you coat the lashes from underneath, but also from above. If you forget the latter, your lashes can end up pointing forward instead of upward, because they become too heavy otherwise. A layer on top ensures the curl.
