HOE JE JE HAAR DOET

– Crown of braids –

Last week we spotted Erin Heatherton, former Angel, with a gorgeous, big braid on her head. Also called the crown braid. It’s been seen a few times at shows already so high time to find out how to create one. It looks damn difficult, but actually far from.

What do you need?

Quite a few bobby pins and a can of hairspray. This looks difficult to do, but let me reassure you: it’s allowed to look messy. Otherwise you’ll end up with a neat little plait on your head, and the point of this look is to have it sitting nonchalantly on your head. You don’t need super long hair either. If you have shorter hair, but long enough to braid, you’ll probably end up with pieces sticking out here and there, but that only creates a cuter look.

Hoe doe je het?

Phase one is to part your hair in two. Part it neatly or naturally, because you won’t see the parting because of the messy effect. However make sure that you have split it in equal thickness, otherwise one side of your head will bulge and the other will have a tiny plait. Spray a little beach spray through your hair before starting. It’ll braid easier, stay in longer and have a stiffer structure. Then you start braiding. A normal plait, you don’t need to use multiple strands or anything. Take the ends of the braid and works these around until they meet. Attach with bobby pins. Then pull a few strands loose. Tadaa, Heidi-braid 2.0.
