IS THE AVOCADO PERFECT?-TEST

“You only write about avocado, right?” asked cameraman Sacha while making this video. I could forgive him, because read more here: Liesbeth once wrote an ode about it and since then we've been crazy about it. But well, indeed; I write SOMETIMES about avocado. However, the last time was a long time ago, so I thought it was time again. Namely today; about how you can see and feel that the fruit is perfectly ripe to eat. Because how annoying is it when you cut open such a fruit with great anticipation and it turns out to be not tasty at all? Very annoying. Here's how to prevent that:

Gently squeeze the fruit. Is it rock hard? Leave it to ripen a bit more, but that seems logical to me.

The avocado should be soft, but not too soft, because then it is overripe and maybe even brown on the inside. That's not tasty. I have a nice trick to check if the fruit is perfectly ripe. Namely like this:

Pop the pit out of the avocado. Then a very small hollow will appear. You can tell if it is perfect by the color of the hollow.

Perfectly ripe:

The avocado has a light color, a bit yellow/green.

Overripe and therefore actually not tasty:

The avocado has a dark brown color.

So when I see in the supermarket that all the pits have been popped out of the avocados, I know you have listened to me.
