New sneakers
Sometimes you just have a bit of luck when your name is Jet and you work at Amayzine.com. Last Tuesday, I was invited to the Nike store to choose a new pair of shoes for the 10K race on May 19 in Amsterdam. My feet were measured (which resulted in an exceptionally large size, ahem) and I got to run a bit on a treadmill so that real Nike running specialists could see which footwear perfectly matched my foot and way of running. A video was recorded, so I made extra effort to run as beautifully and straight as possible, because I sat with a Mensendieck lady every Wednesday for years because I had bow legs, walked with my feet inward, and always preferred to stand with a bent back. As a teenager, I found that a hell, but it has resulted in me walking perfectly straight now. They were quite impressed at Nike.
I went home with a brand new pair of Nikes and a sports bra. My boobies were also measured. It was that time of the month, so I was a bit shocked by that centimeter (it's not normal how they can grow and then shrink again), but I got a perfectly fitting bra where they definitely won't be bouncing around.
By the way, it's really advisable to take some time for new running shoes. At Nike, they are very nice to help you choose the perfect pair. I think it takes about half an hour, and making a video is also really cool.

Unlike last week I was again found a lot in the gym at Robby Nelson. That man can sometimes ask so much of your abs that I almost feel like I'm going to pass out. You're completely in trouble when he comes to ‘help’ you, because then it only gets (of course) tougher and there's zero chance to cheat a bit before the beep goes again. Sometimes I also get weights on my ankles, which makes it all a bit heavier. “Summer is coming!” “Hate me now, love me later” and “You didn't set your alarm for nothing.” That kind of text helps me through the lesson.
You can also easily do abdominal exercises at home. Invest in a mat and a ball, and you'll get quite far. Especially those oblique abs you can tackle very well.
- Sit on the mat with your butt and keep your feet off the floor. Ball in hand and move it left and right. Breathe in and out well, engage your abs, and follow the ball with your eyes. Just look at the picture.
- Lie on your back on the mat and raise both legs along with your arms diagonally into the air. Shoulder blades off the floor and come up short (shoulder blades stay off the ground!). For these exercises, just look at the picture.

God, I have too few hours in my day because there is still so much to discover and taste in Amsterdam (and also outside of it). Ideally, I would like to spend a year testing all the hospitality in Amsterdam (and actually also outside of it), but of course, that's not possible. Unfortunately. This week, I still took the time to get off my bike for a visit to a new juice bar and a take-away place.
Zest for life has only been open for two weeks, but at half past five in the morning, someone is already preparing juices because it gets incredibly busy when the store opens. I bought a Green Goddess smoothie with kale and banana. You can also follow a detox there and pick up your fresh juices every morning or a delicious raw salad.
And I also went to Instock on Ferdinand Bolstraat. This is a pop-up restaurant at the Westergasfabriek. They only work with products that have been rejected for the supermarket. So when they are not pretty enough or it's a bag of apples with one rotten apple in it or something. Nothing is expired, but it's just not representative enough. It's actually food waste because Instock believes it can still be easily used (of course not that one rotten apple). They go to Appie Heijn every day to pick up the rejected food and make delicious dishes from it. Now there is also a small place opened in De Pijp where you can take away. So it's food that the pot provides, and when I came there, there were very tasty veal meatballs with a salad of Brussels sprouts and apple on the menu.
For five euros, I took a container home, and that was enough for dinner. It might sound a bit dusty, but it's not because it all looks very fresh, and there are hip staff behind the counter. For a small price, you also help the world a bit.
