Detoxtime
Last week I did the Innerwave detox. Twice a year, two big crosses go in my calendar. No wine, no dinners, nothing at all. I only eat vegan and for 5 days I stand in the kitchen building smoothies and making soup for the evening. It is indeed a bit boring, but it feels like a really nice reset for my body. This weekend I was done and now of course the idea is to gradually build things back up, but due to the weather and a free weekend, everything craved for a terrace, wine, and bites. So that's what I did.
Here you eat on Saturday with nice weather
I am a huge fan of De Ysbreeker, a restaurant with a large terrace by the Amstel with sun all day. The table was filled with oysters, olives, artichoke hearts, and a platter with sausage and cheese for the men.
The crab claws are by the way the most delicious. The sun went down and it got a bit cold, so we drove on to De Plantage, one of my favorite restaurants in the city.
Exercising with Björn Borg
Our dear friends from Iconic Studios asked me last week to come to a sports festival. Bring it on.
I couldn't get Liesbeth to come along by any means. And indeed: there was nowhere to be found a bar and what was the idea: four hours of exercising in a row.
I got a suit from Björn Borg and two boxing gloves. After half an hour of boxing, I could move on to a spinning class and then I did a session of yoga and ballet. Liesbeth had indeed run away screaming, but I loved it.
New menu
Now that spring has started, the spring menu is also coming out everywhere. Salad bar SLA, for example, has the most delicious new salads, like the Vegan Rainbow Salad which is perfect after a detox week, because it’s a bowl full of vegetables, black beans, and avocado.
Then we have my all-time favorite Café Restaurant Amsterdam which also has a fantastic restaurant by a very quiet water making it feel like you are really out of the city. On the menu is again the crudité. I find that so delicious there. And... Asparagus, people, we can have asparagus again.
Walking with Nike
On May 16, the 10K We run AMS-run takes place. It’s on a Saturday evening and the route runs through Amsterdam. Friends have already reserved a spot along the line (somewhere on a terrace) to cheer me on. Last Saturday morning I had a training of 5 kilometers together with Nike.
We gathered in Westerpark where a trainer was waiting for me and with a small group we ran. Wonderful in the sun, but with a nice breeze; it was perfect weather. I believe I really should have trained hard to run this race very quickly, but I am already very satisfied if I touch the finish in an hour. And then off to the terrace.
