Jet is currently cooking up a storm a book‘, so I'm just going to sit in her chair for a bit. I recently met a man whose hobby is traveling to the best restaurants in the world. He booked a ticket to Peru to eat at Central in Lima. That was his bucket list, to have eaten at all 25 of those restaurants.
While browsing the site of the world's fifty best restaurants, I got stuck on number two. Because I found that a remarkable phenomenon.
The good news is that this restaurant is just around the corner . Well, sort of around the corner; you don't have to fly to Lima for it. It's called Osteria Francescana and it's located in Modena.
I don't think you've been there. It only has twelve tables. Twelve. And the chance that we can get a spot is small. You can only reserve up to three months in advance and, as you might guess, every day is booked up to three months in advance.
However, you can still make a reservation for New Year's Eve. The chef serves a lovely dinner then. For 500 euros, you can join. Excluding wine, of course. But then you do get to eat in the second-best restaurant in the world.
Otherwise, you can bring a touch of Osteria Francescana into your home by getting his book ‘Never Trust a Skinny Italian Chef’.
