HOUSE, TREE, PARTY
– The guideline for the most beautiful still life –
Maybe you already know that mood boards are my favorite. During the holidays, I always collect fun cards, receipts, and unforgettable souvenirs to create a still life from. And with autumn, I also really enjoy doing something with chestnuts and leaves, and at Christmas, lights are definitely collected too. So that sounds really incredibly quaint and silly, but believe me, it can also be trendy and very current. The manual so that you can conjure up a new scene on the table every week.
Theme and color palette
This sounds very logical, but think in advance about what theme and color palette you want to create your still life in. And it doesn't have to be a logical consequence. Autumn doesn't necessarily have to be in the colors red, green, and orange. Christmas doesn't have to be in green and red either. Think a little outside the box. Autumn can also be cool with black/white owls, golden chestnuts, and silver acorns. Christmas can also be fun in a metallic color, and a Winter Wonderland is nice with snow and white details, but it can also definitely have a touch of neon.
Practice and take your time
Practice makes perfect. Sometimes you are so incredibly enthusiastic that you want to have a still life on the table within 10 minutes. But hey, that's not how it works. You need to take your time. You need that time in advance for gathering things, but also for crafting the items, painting the props, and assembling the collage. If you don't take your time, it will just be a haphazard mess. What a shame.
Take a photo and stick it perfectly
If you think it looks good, take a photo. If it’s Instagram-worthy, then your collage has turned out well. Only then do you make it final and can you bring out the super glue. And that photo is also super handy because then you know for sure that everything will be stuck in the right place. It really sounds like a kindergarten rule, but I bet you'll be grateful to me?
New life
Things you really can't say goodbye to yet but should give a second life. Spray it in a color or sand it down. It just gets a surprising twist and it won't be so standard. Only when you are done with it do you throw it in the trash. At least you tried.
Collect everything
Throughout the year, you just have to collect everything you come across and find somewhat usable for a beautiful still life. Because of that, my house has become an exploded mess full of ribbons, bows, cards, clippings, and who knows what else, but you can definitely do it in a more modest version. Maybe you already know that mood boards are my favorite. During the holidays, I always collect fun cards, receipts, and unforgettable souvenirs...
