MAKE-UP BAG
Brechje Gondrie
May I introduce you to one of the most stylish and kindest business women I know? Because it really exists: women who can do good business without immediately turning into a biting pitbull. What does she do? Well, Brechje brought brands like Fris & Company and Rubber Duck, you know those cool winter boots, to our little country. But she has also recently started her own label All-time Favourites, with the now recognized signature shoppers by NET-A-PORTER . Finally, a bag that makes room for that ugly Ikea bag or Dirk bag, where many women carry their stuff. I got to peek into Brech's make-up bag (also from her own brand), but I immediately wondered if an entrepreneur like her even has time for an extensive make-up routine?
“I indeed spend very little time on my make-up. Nowadays a bit more than before, because yes, I am getting older too. But basically, I am happy with a bit of mascara and eyeliner. And what is typically Brech are her well-groomed painted nails, I have been doing this for as long as I can remember.”
And what are your three favorite products or brands?
“Well, actually silly to say, but I just buy whatever is on sale at that moment haha. I really like O.P.I. nail polish. But that could be a different brand tomorrow. I am easy, right?”
What a cute snake print bag. It is reasonably filled so full of hope I open it. But lo and behold, I indeed see almost only nail polishes from O.P.I. I give nail girl Brech no wrong, because as I said before: your hands are your business card. I am sure Brech has a few more gems in her bag. I see the classic bronzer from Guerlain and the lovely M.A.C. Whole Lotta Love blush. And luckily I am crazy about eyeliner, so finding the Master Precise from Maybelline makes me a happy person. I also find a nice red bottle from Diana Vreeland, it is the Outrageously Vibrant scent and it is truly yum. You really didn’t score that on sale, did you Brech? Otherwise, I want to know where!
I immediately get to work with the eyeliner, it goes on smoothly. A bit of bronzer and a blush and I immediately move on to my hands, because I can't wait to try the polishes: Tasmanian Devil Made Me Do It and A Good Man-darin is Hard to Find. With such titles, it can only be that my red-orange painted nails look fantastic. The polish is very opaque so I have enough after two layers. So I am very happy with my nails, but my face is a bit of the caliber ‘bare bottom’. Oh well, if I become even half as good a businesswoman as Brechje, then I think it's all fine.
