The 5 best business nails

The day often starts here with a nail polish session. While we type, you hear. Painting nails is also work in our case. Just like online shopping. All ‘werruk’ and extremely tiring.

Mindful of the adage ‘give me your nail and I’ll tell you who you are’, I’m taking a moment today to reflect on the business nail. Because you can often miss the mark with nail polish.

Just, neater, neatest

You are a businesswoman, have a good job, and are super punctual. We can see that in your nail. No hangnails, no chipped polish, and certainly no dirty edges. Everything is under control in your world, including your nails. Especially in your nails.

No hysteria

Really fun, a different color on each finger and that rhinestone does quite well on the weekend, but on Monday it’s ‘the office’ and you dress like this. I once had a boss who had her nails painted in the color of the flag of the country where the Eurovision Song Contest was held. From that moment on, I could no longer take her seriously.

Be careful with red

Red may be powerful, but it also has a high Ciska Dresselhuys content, I might say. For the younger readers among us; Ciska Dresselhuys was for years the editor-in-chief of Opzij and had those neat, powerful nails in the same color as her lipstick.

No shellac and gel polish

It is in itself a solution, such a nail polish that lasts for weeks. In the ‘business’ category, I think it falls short. Firstly, because you see regrowth quite quickly and that doesn’t convey ‘I have everything completely under control’. Secondly, you can tell from the gel polish that you’ve been to a manicure, which immediately takes away a layer from your businesswoman image. I recommend showing an effortless nail. One that no one wonders how you did it, but that just looks good. Thirdly, I find such a polish a bit too much leaning towards the football wife. On your toes; fine, but keep it off your hands.

Choose your color

Adjust your color to your profession. If you are a lawyer, I would choose a nice nude. If you work in a more creative field, you can choose a more pronounced color like blue or that beautiful new lavender from Chanel. A polish with just a good transparent topcoat is always good. Looks neat and clean, with the added benefit that if it chips, you don’t see it. And furthermore, you can never go wrong with a nice nude.
