Why online shopping is actually hell
Here at the Amayzine editorial office, we are all quite fanatical online shoppers. Jet starts her day as standard with a round of The Outnet and I am better informed about the offerings from Net-a-Porter than about my own bank balance (I suspect a connection). But sometimes, or actually quite often, online shopping is downright hell. Especially during the sale, it can get pretty fierce and wild (zespecially when Valentino boots are involved). Not that we will stop because of that, but sometimes you just need to vent your heart.
When the shipping costs are ridiculously high
Super nice, that dress for 50 bucks, but with the shipping costs of 30 euros, it still doesn't add up. Especially with international orders, you can end up being deceived. With shipments from America, there can even be import duties added, and then you're really in trouble.
When you don't know the right size
There are always those nice size charts, but they rarely provide clarity. I have spent hours with a measuring tape, and in the end, the ordered item still didn't fit. And then there's also the problem of international sizing; every country does something different, so all in all, it's a kind of mathematical equation that you have to solve, and I don't know about you, but I can't do anything with mathematical equations.
When your size is not available
You finally found your size or are familiar with the brand and know what to take, and then ALL sizes are available except yours. Of course.
When the item you bought goes on sale the next day
After much deliberation, you decided to go ahead and spend your last pennies on that one pair of shoes, and then you see the next day that they are online with a 50% discount. Not cool. So not cool.
When your dream item never goes on sale
But this might be even worse. Everything goes on sale, except the item that you have been eyeing for weeks. The world is unfair.
When you order a red dress and it turns out to be orange (or vice versa)
I had that once, thought I was buying beautiful bright red pumps, and then a pair of bright orange ones arrived. The photos and the description clearly indicated red, but no, it turned out to be bright orange. Now I am quite fond of King's Day but orange shoes, um no thanks.
When you need an extra code for your credit card and don't know it
That happened with the Valentino boots. Everything was in order until the last screen came, and I suddenly had to enter an extra security code that I had never heard of. Really, that caused me so much stress.
When it is completely unclear when your item will be delivered
I hate that so much: you get a link to track your order, but it turns out not to work, or something else is off. Every time the doorbell rings you perk up, but every time you flop back down with intense disappointment.
When it turns out not to fit
The biggest frustration of all. You have waited endlessly for your item, and when it finally arrives, it turns out not to fit or not to be right. I once ordered a beautiful pair of shoes that was just a bit too tight, but hell no, I wasn't going to send those back. I had to wait so long for them, so I might as well endure a little pain.
