Sarah Lingg recently flew with her beloved to LA for the campaign of her own bag and jewelry line TOV Essentials. The bracelets with letters are easily recognizable from afar and are widely worn by all of known Netherlands. Her affordable designer bags are flying off the shelves and I want to know more about that. How does she manage it all?

How many designer bags do you have?

A few years ago, I wrote a business plan with my husband to design designer bags for a fraction of the price of the usual brands. Because I strongly believe in ‘practice what you preach”, I only carry bags from my own line. I have sold or given away all my other designer bags.

Every season I design two new complete bag collections. I want to test all the samples, so my closet is quite full. You understand that I also give away a lot. For example, I have a backpack in the collection, really fun of course and totally in style, but it doesn't really suit me, so that goes to a friend.”

How brave of you and what a good idea. What kind of women buy your bags?

“Women who love luxury and who go for their own taste and style and don’t want a bag that the whole world is already carrying.“

What about the contents of the bag you are carrying now? Are you a chaotic person or neatly organized?

No, quite neat actually. I always carry a notebook with blank pages. From Hermès. I always write and sketch with a pencil. Besides that, my toiletry bag, dental floss, and my Hermès Santal Massoia perfume.”

Do you prefer trendy or classic? And does a bag also need to be practical?

“Look, a bag must first and foremost be beautiful and it must be of good quality. I believe everyone should have four different bags. The perfect shopper, a perfect boho, a perfect crossbody, and the right clutch. Then you’re set.”

You probably don’t have a bag on your wishlist?

“Indeed, I’m especially looking forward to the winter bag collection that we will present soon. You will see a lot of boucle and quilting effects with an edgy touch. This winter is all about many different materials. I’m excited.”
