Amayzine

Make-up bag:

Danielle Heerkens

The sunshine at Amayzine is really Danielle, our sales director. This woman radiates. I would too with such a flawless face. Very curious about the secret behind it. Danielle, I’m about to discover, ha!

“Look, there are three things (besides my husband and children of course) that make me extremely happy: designer shoes and bags AND makeup. And the funny thing is that I only wore mascara for the first time after my twenties. I thought it didn’t suit me. But by now I’ve really become a makeup freak. I’m not very attached to one brand but just want the best in its kind. I figure that out completely myself or I get advice in the store. And in the end, I only use about ten percent of my entire bag, haha.”

Wait a minute, what the F is this huge thing?! It feels like I’m dealing with a makeup artist. I start rambling as if the latest Sophia Webster pair is being presented. Immediately after that, an insecure feeling arises. Am I really a beauty editor? I decide to stock up on some extra stuff this weekend so that I am worthy of my title (or will be). Anyway, never let your insecurities take over. I’m going to enjoy all this nice stuff. My eye sees a lot of Chanel foundations and M.A.C blushes. Danielle and I are on the same wavelength. There are also many application brushes, primers, and various colored pencils in it, almost all from Chanel. Furthermore, there’s a concealer from Helena Rubinstein and some lip stuff from Sisley. I think I can last a few hours with this bag of candy.

I’m having a great time with Danielle’s little bag. I see a face spray from Mario Badescu and I’m immediately awake. Nice, that Magic Concealer from Helena Rubinstein. Dab dab, bags gone. The Vitalumière foundation from Chanel suits my tanned skin perfectly, covers enough, and feels soft. Yes, Danielle also uses the Grandiôse mascara from Lancôme and it just happens to be one of the finest specimens in the world. I always use Hema eyeliner (it doesn’t always have to be expensive) because it draws sharply and you need very few cotton swabs. Here I find the Push-Up Liner from Benefit and I must say, that one can stay. I butter my lips with the skin-colored Phyto Lip Twist from Sisley. I try the Heirloom Blush from M.A.C, but it’s just a bit too pink for me. So I give the Chubby Stick from Clinique a chance. Well, this is delightful. I apply some on my cheekbones, blend it out, and suddenly I have fresh cheeks.

Conclusion: a very nice nude look. I’m more into bright eyeshadow or colored lips, but in this case, I didn’t have the necessities for that. Still, I would survive with this specimen. I’d love to.

The makeup bag contains one highlight after another, so choosing a few products as favorites is still a challenge. But, drumroll, here’s my top three:

1. The Chubby Stick from Clinique is amazing. With blush, it’s always a hassle for me. This specimen is simple, brushless, and stays on for a long time. Handy for in the clutch.

2. The Mario Badescu I’m going to order immediately. I have quite a bit of trouble waking up (I’m really a morning monster) and this stuff can help with that.

3. I said it before; usually, my lips are brightly colored. I don’t have any nude lipstick because it creates those ugly clumps on me when I wear it longer. But that one from Sisley I must have too. No clumps in sight.

Dear Daan, can I learn makeup from you?
