away with the wine

There I went. Out with the wine, in with the detox.

On Friday evening, a crate was delivered with all the detox gear. It looked very cozy with nicely designed bottles and jars of soup but also very organized. And organized = little. Was this for one person? No, for two. Okay.

While my beloved was frying eggs for our children, I poured us some juice. In wine glasses, to make it a bit more cozy. By the way, it was a delicious juice. “Mom, also a bite.” Wow, that fork came dangerously close to my mouth and it was a close call that I would have shoved it right in. I immediately realized how often I unknowingly shove leftovers in. A grape here, a breakfast cookie there, those few sips of orange juice are a shame to throw away.

I am writing this on day three while my colleagues are having lunch and it doesn't bother me at all. I haven't felt hungry these days. Well, on Saturday just for a moment. But that was because we were out and I hadn't brought any juice. Then I ‘sinned’ with an apple. But that's allowed by the detox-delight people. In the evening I went to the SuperTrash show and felt on top of the world. So much energy, and no alcohol fumes that I did detect with my colleagues. No problem of course, normally I would have already had at least three Chardonnays under my beltbut now I felt strong and healthy. I just skipped the afterparty at the trendy 5&33 because those snacks there are so divine, it would have been too heavy.

On the way home, I fantasized about where I will be eating soon and dove into bed with a cup of ginger tea. And with a thick sweater because detoxing makes you cold.

How I found it, everyone asked today at the office. Hard due to the boredom. The weekend is usually planned around culinary activities and now it was juice and soup. By the way, that soup is incredibly delicious. But still. I would have loved to have a sandwich and a glass of this or that with it. I haven't felt hungry for a moment. We were both tired though. And my beloved was already sleeping during Studio Sport. That normally never happens. Unless he is drunk.

Last night we had some wild fantasies in the category: “We’ll just eat the soup for tomorrow tonight and then we’ll eat normally again tomorrow.” But that wasn't necessary at all. We woke up fit as a chicken, were a kilo lighter, and decided to stick to it for another two days.

Let me catch you up...
