THE FUNNIEST FACTS

ABOUT THE PAST FASHION WEEKS

Fashion season has officially come to an end, and brands like Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu made it one big spectacle until the very last day. For a month, we enjoyed the horde of celebrities sitting front row (especially at Balmain, you saw them a lot), strange concepts (have you seen Rick Owens' show yet?) and sets that we think should stay (we certainly can't wait to take a trip with Chanel Airlines). Unfortunately, the finest things are not forever, but before we say goodbye to fashion week (for now), we will share all the facts from the past 29 days. You really can't do without them.

  • In those 29 days, there were a total of 589 shows.
  • Shows usually last 15 to 20 minutes, but the waiting time for attendees can be up to 2 hours. So if you were at a show where Kim and Kanye were also invited, you probably started the show feeling extremely uncomfortable.
  • Of all the fashion houses that showed at fashion week, 6 celebrated their 10th anniversary this season: Alexander Wang, Ashish, Erdem, Gareth Pugh, Nicolas Kirkwood, and Roksanda.
  • Victoria Beckham saw her Instagram account grow by a modest 129,000 new followers after her show, leaving other designers far behind.
  • Models Lineisy Montero from the Dominican Republic and Harleth Kuusik and Alexandra Elizabeth Ljadov, both from Estonia, walked a total of 65 shows. They were the most booked models this season.
  • But our models also did well. Maartje Verhoef and Julie Hoomans lead with both 57 shows, Ine Hofs (technically she is Belgian, but who pays attention to that?) walked 42, just like Vera van Erp. To round off the list, we see Marjan Jonkman in third place. We saw her 39 times on the catwalk.
  • The so-called ‘celebrity models’ were seen little. Gigi Hadid walked only 8 times on the catwalk, Kendall was seen 7 times, and Doutzen walked a total of only 2 shows.
  • Fashion house Maison Margiela had 33 different and unique beauty looks during its show. This means that each model had a different and separate look.
  • Dior took a grand approach this year. They came up with the bizarre idea of wanting 400,000 (!) delphiniums (blue flowers that somewhat resemble a dolphin from a distance, we call them larkspur) to make the center of the Cour Carrée in the Louvre a bit more festive.
  • The production company Bureau Betak produced the most shows this season, no less than 15. These were Dior, Isabel Marant, Yazbukey, Carven, Jacquemus, Anthony Vaccarello, Roberto Cavalli, Peter Pilotto, Mary Katrantzou, Hugo Boss, Michael Kors, Rodarte, DvF, Lacoste, and Jason Wu.
  • New York Fashion Week won the award for the most tweets, namely 1.25 million.
  • People slept an estimated 344 hours this month. That's about 6 hours and 25 minutes per night. And you can tell...

Happy fashion week! We can't wait for the next one.

Fashion season has officially come to an end, and the final day was fierce with fashion mavens Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu. For a full month we were treated to celebrity clad runways (we’re talking about you Balmain), odd concepts (Rick Owens, where do we even begin?) and clever Imagineering (who wouldn’t want to jet off with Chanel Airlines?). But alas, all good things must always come to an end. But not without a little insight to all the impressive facts and figures from the past 29 days.

  • There were a total of 589 shows over the course of 29 days
  • Runway shoes usually take about 15 to 20 minutes, although the waiting time can sometimes take up to 2 hours! (Especially when you’re waiting on Kim & Kanye…)
  • 6 fashion houses celebrated their 10-year anniversaries this season: Alexander Wang, Ashish, Erdem, Gareth Pugh, Nicolas Kirkwood and Roksanda
  • Victoria Beckham won first place on the Instagram bandwagon after gaining 129,000 new followers after her show.
  • It’s a three-way tie for the highest amount of walked shows. We’ve got Lineisy Montero from the Dominican Republic, Harleth Kuusik and Alexandra Elizabeth Ljadov, both from Estonia, all with a grand total of 65 shows per person.
  • The Dutch models also had an impressive run this season with Maartje Verhoef and Julie Hoomans leading the pack both with 57 shows, Ine Hufs (technically Belgian but hey, potato, potato) had 42, as did Vera van Erp, followed closely by Marjan Jonkman who strutted down the runway 39 times.
  • ‘Celebrity’ models on the other hand made quite a disappointing run. Gigi Hadid was only seen strutting the runway 8 times, Kendall 7, and Doutzen Kroes only walked 2 shows
  • Maison Margiela had a total of 33 different unique beauty looks during their show (a different look for every model)
  • 400,000 delphiniums covered the center of the Louvre’s cour carrée for the Dior show
  • Production company Bureau Betak produced the most amount of shows this fashion season: 15. (Dior, Isabel Marant, Yazbukey, Carven, Jacquemus, Anthony Vaccarello, Roberto Cavalli, Peter Pilotto, Mary Katmatzou, Hugo Boss, Michael Kors, Rodarte, DvF, Lacoste & Jason Wu)
  • New York Fashion Week had the most amount of tweets: 1.25 million
  • People had an estimated 344 hours of sleep this month. That’s around 6 hours and 25 minutes each night!

Now ain’t that quite a bit of math for ya!
