My cookbook shelf is really almost collapsing under the weight of the amount, and can I please have a few more hours in my day, because I just have no time for everything I want to make. But well, I keep buying them, because they are wonderful for inspiration or just for the sake of it, and of course I use a recipe now and then. The last month my little shelf has been well stocked again and I will share my favorites with you. Maybe I should just set a fixed day each week to spend the whole day cooking all the delicious things I come across. Will you join me?
I bought this book recently when I was in Maastricht. I usually know within a few seconds of flipping through whether I like it. This one was an immediate hit. As the title says: delicious (and healthy) snacks or something for the drinks. We might be a bit tired of that muesli bar or crudités sometimes. Well, this book is full of fun new ideas. And healthy, of course. You know me. I do enjoy a glass of wine with it.
Our Rens Kroes. I believe her second cookbook reached number 1 within a few hours of its release. I didn't expect anything else. Her first book was already such a hit and she has hordes of fans following her. In Powerfood 2, she combines the countryside in Friesland with New York. I find it a very amusing combination. Zucchini noodles, for example. Noodles are hip & happening in New York and the zucchini probably grows in her parents' backyard (in Friesland, where she comes from).
I could almost take a subscription, because I really like to visit their salad bar often. Ida, who creates all the salads and actually the entire menu, has now made a cookbook. Beautiful photos of the most delicious salads that are also on their menu, but you will also find nice new creations in this book. I also really like the chapter with dips and dressings.
This is actually an oldie, but I came across it in the cupboard at a friend's place and I immediately snagged it. Sorry for that. Rachel Khoo lives in Paris and bakes and fries the most delicious things from her tiny kitchen. The fun thing about this book is that each chapter is divided into eating moments with matching recipes. So: picnicking, snack time, aperitif, and more. You get it? I like it. And cooking delicious French food. That’s my girl.
