As befits a fashion director, Simone is abundant in bags. I once witnessed her being without a bag for a whole year. That was no problem, she had plenty. During a closet cleaning session, she finally found it again. Neatly folded at the bottom of her closet. Because a woman can never have enough bags, she is deeply happy with her Jérôme Dreyfuss.

How many bags do you have?

Okay, I really need to think about that. I have quite a few, but I actually always use the same ones. I guess around 30 bags, mainly shoulder bags, but also a number of clutches. It's a mix of no-brand and designer bags, most of which are in black or brown. Not very flashy, no, although my red and yellow shopper on the other hand...

What is the story behind this bag?

This bag is from Jérôme Dreyfuss. I received it during my farewell at Marie Claire. By the way, I chose it myself. It looks a lot like a bag I already had. But secretly, I just really like having a designer version of this model now. The nice thing about this model is that it is compact, but still big enough for all my stuff. And that little light, super handy right? They come standard with the bags from Jérôme Dreyfuss.

How do you handle your bag?

Not very careful, I really see my bag as a utility item. I actually think that used look has its charms. I walk around with it in the rain, always forget to spray it with a protective spray, and just put it on the ground.

What about the content?

I stuff all sorts of things in it. For example, there are also two nail polishes in there right now. Quite funny, because I'm just not aware of that anymore. I always have tie wraps with me, when I'm at Schiphol I always want to be able to lock my suitcase. Tie wraps are perfect for that.

What do you always have with you?

What I always have with me are my phone, wallet, keys, and a pencil. I actually always write with a pencil. A nail file, cream blush, and a nice scent (currently the Les Infusions de Prada, which makes me so happy) can also always be found in my bag. Furthermore, I always, yes really always, have sunglasses with me. Rain or shine, I just can't drive or bike without my sunglasses. And sunglasses make any outfit fashionable, especially this oversized pair from Céline. It always looks nice, right?

What do you think are the best features of a bag?

The best features of a bag for me are a long strap that allows you to wear your bag crossbody. But also compartments to somewhat organize my bag and a zipper to close your bag. Furthermore, I also find it important that a bag is timeless. Personally, I would never go for the it-bag, you quickly end up with a ‘last season’ bag.

Which one is still on your wishlist?

The shopper from Valentino, feminine yet tough due to the studs. With flexible working, such a shopper is ideal. And also a good excuse for a new bag, right? My laptop fits perfectly in here.
